The Axis Communications P3214-VE 1.3MP Outdoor-Ready HD Network Camera delivers clear and crisp images, thanks to its 1.3MP CMOS image sensor. Featuring Day/Night and WDR technology, the camera works well even in less than ideal lighting environments and it offers a sensitivity of 0.3 lux in color and 0.06 lux in black-and-white at F1.6. For video compression, the P3214-VE transmits multiple streams in H.264 and Motion JPEG video formats at either full frame rates or individually optimized for different quality needs and bandwidth constraints. Additionally, it has a micro/SD/micro/SDHC/microSDXC memory card slot for on-board storage of the recorded footage. The card slot can support up to 64GB cards.
The P3214-VE features an inner camera aluminum module with encapsulated electronics. It also features an IK10-rated impact-resistant polycarbonate casing with a dehumidifying membrane that's designed to prevent vandalism. The outer casing is also IP66-rated and NEMA 4X-rated, which means that this camera is well-protected against corrosion, windblown dust and rain, splashing water, hose-directed water, and damage from external ice formation. Plus, it can operate in harsh weather conditions ranging from -40 to 131°F.
The P3214-VE has been outfitted with a variety of convenient and useful shooting tools and capabilities. It has a unique pixel counter that calculates the number of pixels contained in a given part of the image. This is an important feature for satisfying certain jurisdictions requiring proof of resolution before an image can be submitted for evidence. Additionally, the varifocal lens is equipped with P-Iris control, remote zoom, and remote focus, which means that the camera doesn't have to be physically accessed for making lens adjustments. The lens provides a 92 to 33° viewing angle, as well as a 2.8 to mm focal length and F1.6 aperture.
Other notable features include edge storage, an Open Application Programming Interface (API) for software integration, support for AXIS Video Hosting System (AVHS) with One-Click Camera connection, advanced security/network management capabilities, and a PoE power source that eliminates the need for any power cables. PoE connectivity also reduces the camera's overall installation costs.
