Nikon 26464B overview

  • 1Description

The black Nikon COOLPIX P530 Digital Camera is a 16.1 megapixel point-and-shoot camera with a 42x optical zoom NIKKOR lens featuring a focal length of 4.3-180mm and a variable aperture of f/3-5.9. This 35mm equivalent zoom range of 24-1000mm allows you to shoot wide and at super telephoto distances, making the P530 a versatile camera capable of high resolution images and full HD 1920 x 1080 video. Also, the lens has optical image stabilization in the form of Vibration Reduction for reducing the effects of camera shake at long focal lengths and slow shutter speeds.

For viewing images and changing settings there is a 3" LCD display as well as an electronic viewfinder. Both of these offer 100% coverage during shooting for helping achieve proper composition. Also, the P530 features a variety of exposure modes, including full manual, shutter priority, aperture priority, and program.

When shooting in low-light situations, there is a built-in flash available. The P530 also saves images to either built-in memory or to an SD card. And, if you want Wi-Fi connectivity, this camera is compatible with the optional WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter (available separately).

16.1MP Back-Side Illuminated CMOS Image Sensor
The 16.1 megapixel CMOS sensor provides high resolution images with minimal noise in low-light conditions due to a back-side illuminated design.
42x High Power Zoom with Lens-shift VR
The 42x zoom opens up a range of possibilities and shooting perspectives for you to explore. To enhance image clarity, lens-shift VR (Vibration Reduction) helps compensate for camera shake, which is more likely to occur when shooting at or around the 42x zoom setting. ACTIVE mode can be used to minimize image blur when shooting from a moving vehicle or any other unstable position, stabilizing both captured and viewfinder images.
3.0" LCD Display & Electronic Viewfinder
The 3.0" LCD display features 921K-dot resolution for viewing images and changing settings as well as shooting. In addition there is an electronic viewfinder for a natural shooting style reminiscent of a DSLR camera.
Full HD 1080/60i Video with Stereo Sound
In addition to high-quality still photographs, the COOLPIX P530 can capture Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution video at 60 interlaced frames per second. Moreover, the built-in microphone enables stereo audio recordings.
Support for WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter
The COOLPIX P530 is compatible with the optional WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter (available separately). Using the WU-1a allows you to share your shots online or control the camera with a compatible smartphone or tablet.
Auto and Manual Controls
The COOLPIX P530 employs a combination of auto and manual controls, including COOLPIX Picture Control, scene auto selector and optimized scene modes. Exposure modes include Programmed Auto, Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority and Manual. Manual focus is also available.

    Nikon 26464B reviews

COOLPIX P530 Digital Camera (Black) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 39.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Improvement on my Previous Cameras I am a very amateur photographer, but I have been very impressed with this camera. I was especially excited when I was able to get clear, close-up pictures of the moon, since all of my previous (point-and-shoot) cameras could only make the moon look like a bright little speck of light in the corner of the photo. I was impressed with the clarity of the video (videoing stock dogs working for my husband - so there was a lot of action and zooming in and out). The only problem I had was sometimes when I zoom in the middle of the video, it didn't refocus very well. A few settings were a bit confusing, but I'm slowly figuring it out. I'm having some trouble with getting good pictures in low light (other than the moon, since it provides its own light), but I think I just haven't figured out the settings yet.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Autofocus Problems I ordered this as a birthday present for my daughter, then found a Panasonic Lumix on sale and got that for her instead, thinking I would keep the Nikon for myself. I shoot Nikon DSLRs, and fully realize that a P&S is not going to have the same image quality or responsiveness. I opened the box, charged it and shot a couple of test frames. Then a couple of weeks later I took it to my granddaughter's band concert as its first outing. Zoom reach is good, and the camera feels pretty sturdy in the hand. But the autofocus is simply dismal in low-ish light, even at the wide end. I wouldn't say the stage lighting is terribly low. I was shooting ISO 800, f/8 @ 1/40 to 1/60. The focus would hunt and hunt and often never acheive lock. I finally used manual focus which is clunky and difficult to use. Trying to use this camera in regular dim room lighting was a nightmare. The shutter lag is short when you can get things to fucus. This was not as much of a problem outside in bright light. Fast forward to earlier this week when daughter opened her Lumix. I took it for a test spin to compare. I had no problem at all with the autofocus on it, even in very dim lighting. I used a dark room with a small night light for a test and focused on several onjects. The Lumix nailed every one, the Nikon could not lock focus on even one. The two models have similar zoom reach. So I called B&H and they very generously agreed to take the Nikon back.I do not know if I had a defective camera or if the model suffers from this issue. It's a shame, for otherwise the Coolpix is a nifty little camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I hoped for in a camera In the 2 weeks I've had this camera I have taken some amazing pictures of birds at our feeder...through our windows, using the zoom features. I have taken a few indoor shots with the flash and they have been good. I'm just beginning to tip the iceberg with what can be done with it, but so far it's 5 star for me. The service and extras provided were exceptional.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Prosumer Camera I use the camera for baseball games, ballet, vacation photos and general people pictures. It does a great job getting the proper exposure when there is contrasting areas in the photo. When I shake the camera just a little, it feels like something is loose inside, but doesn't appear to be functioning incorrectly...just a weird feeling. Overall a really good camera for the price.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Coolpix not so cool I charged up the battery as recommended in the manual to test out the camera before giving to my nephew as a present. A few days later i got a message from his mother to say the camera would not charge at all. They took to a store and tried several things which also did not work. They found a blog where others had stated they had the same issue and it was cured by purchasing the external battery charger. Now i have had to spend another $50.00 on a charger and 2nd battery and will have to mail this to them so he can hopefully continue to use the camera. Sorry Nikon, VERY Disappointed in this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like a spy camera I use this to take picture at church and the nature around me. It has magnificent zoom, the flash helps you focus on the target. On the downside, the battery life is not that great, if you are using it for more than 7 hours, bring the charger with you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow I absolutely love the P530. I chose this over similar Canons because I love Nikon glass. Nikon did not disappoint. Amazing image quality for the price. It was a gift for my wife and I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very dissatisfied with this camera I was hoping to take photographs of my son playing basketball. All the shots are blurry, and the shutter speed is slow. Very disappointed with this camera. It is clunky and slow.
