Samyang 12mm f/2.0 Overview

The black 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS Lens for Micro Four Thirds Mount from Samyang is a wide-angle prime lens designed specifically for use with Micro Four Thirds format image sensors. Providing a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 24mm and a broad 83° angle of view, this lens is well-suited for architectural, interior, and landscape images. Its fast f/2.0 maximum aperture is beneficial to working in low-light conditions.

One aspherical element, one hybrid aspherical element and three elements made of low dispersion glass have been incorporated into the optical design to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortion for sharper, high contrast imaging throughout the frame. Additionally, a Nano Coating System (NCS) has been applied to the lens elements in order to reduce surface reflections and prevent lens flare and ghosting. A six-blade aperture closes to create a near full circle and the lenses minimum focus distance is 7.9".  The lens barrel is built with aluminum alloy with a 67mm diameter filter thread and includes a removable petal-style lens hood.

Wide-angle prime lens provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 24mm for comprehensive wide-angle applications including architectural and landscape photography.
Fast f/2.0 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions.
Three extra-low dispersion elements, one hybrid aspherical element and an aspherical element reduce chromatic aberrations and distortions in order to produce sharper images from the center to the corner of the image frame.
Nano Coating System improves light transmission and suppresses lens flare and ghosting for more contrast-rich, color-neutral images.
Durable aluminum alloy build and included removable petal-style lens hood.

Hi, would this lease be compatible with Fujifilm X-T1?
Asked by: Tran
No, it would not. The Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS Lens for Micro Four Thirds Mount (Black), B&H # SA122M43B, is designed for use on cameras that use the Micro Four Thirds lens mount. The Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS Lens for Fujifilm X-Mount (Black), B&H # SA122FXB, would instead be the correct lens for use on a Fujifilm X-mount lens mount.

How is the warranty for this lens?

This lens is very good. The bright f/2 maximum aperture in a very solid metal lens mount and with low weight. Aperture control and focusing are both completely manual. The focusing ring is well damped, and smooth to operate, which makes focusing a pleasure. Taking images of anything over a meter or two away is straightforward, as the lens can simply be left set to infinity.

Does anyone know of a filter holder that doesn't cause vignetting on this superwide lens?
Asked by: John
Using a thinner screw in filter like the B+W XS-Pro series to prevent vignetting. Using a filter holder with an adapter can be a hit or miss situation.

Will this work with a Sony A7RII without any cropping?

While this will work with the A7RIII, it covers an APS-C Sensor only. You will only be able to use this lens in a Cropped Sensor Mode with the A7RIII.

question

I had the Rokinon and I bought the Samyang recently and was comparing the two and the focus on Samyang is at a different mark on the focus ring and is a bit softer than the Rokinon. You think I might have a bad copy of the Samyang? See the comparisons here:https://ibb.co/hfEMSThttps://ibb.co/dYR1SThttps://ibb.co/gRajgohttps://ibb.co/kA7x1ohttps://ibb.co/jm1eE8https://ibb.co/nsy4gohttps://ibb.co/eAnanThttps://ibb.co/g74c1ohttps://ibb.co/mmcanT
Asked by: Sameer P.
Sorry, we cannot see those images. If both the focus distance is off and the image is soft, then that is all you need to know that you should exchange the lens. The performance of these two lenses should be identical since they are made in the same factory, by the same people, and out of the same parts. Only the name is different.
