The black 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS Lens for Micro Four Thirds Mount from Samyang is a wide-angle prime lens designed specifically for use with Micro Four Thirds format image sensors. Providing a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 24mm and a broad 83° angle of view, this lens is well-suited for architectural, interior, and landscape images. Its fast f/2.0 maximum aperture is beneficial to working in low-light conditions.

One aspherical element, one hybrid aspherical element and three elements made of low dispersion glass have been incorporated into the optical design to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortion for sharper, high contrast imaging throughout the frame. Additionally, a Nano Coating System (NCS) has been applied to the lens elements in order to reduce surface reflections and prevent lens flare and ghosting. A six-blade aperture closes to create a near full circle and the lenses minimum focus distance is 7.9".  The lens barrel is built with aluminum alloy with a 67mm diameter filter thread and includes a removable petal-style lens hood.

Wide-angle prime lens provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 24mm for comprehensive wide-angle applications including architectural and landscape photography.
Fast f/2.0 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions.
Three extra-low dispersion elements, one hybrid aspherical element and an aspherical element reduce chromatic aberrations and distortions in order to produce sharper images from the center to the corner of the image frame.

Samyang 12mm f/2.0 Reviews

Must learn to use your camera in manual first

Some landscape photographers highly recommended and its cheaper than the new auto focus lens. I decided to try it. You need to learn to use the camera in manual, especially the focus magnifier and focus peaking . You can learn how to set up your camera on YouTube. I recommend getting the right exposure using the correct F stop, shutter speed and ISO otherwise it is too dark or light to focus manually. I enjoyed the lens once I learned to focus. I also discovered that you can find lens correction in Lightroom to help develope an even better image.

If You're Looking For The Wide View

After a couple outings with this lens I found it to be better than my expectations. It has solid build and fine optics. I needed a lens for those occasional times that you want the whole picture. An upcoming trip to Iceland is where I knew this to be my case. Small and light in size it will not be a problem for my camera bag. Like the 85, just know that the small bar above the line at infinity is where you set your focus, no need to bother with focusing after this if you are stopped down.

Pleasant Surprise

I bought this for a Canyon trip to Utah and it was great. The picture quality was excellent and the wide aperture made for some great low light shooting. The fact that everything beyond 3 ft. Is in focus also helped in some tough shooting situations.

fast flat lens for astrophotography

That's all I use it for, and it does a good job, especially for the cost. Lots of lenses will do well when stopped down a few stops, but his has decent performance wide-open, which is what an astro lens for Milky Way photography needs most. Focuses well past infinity, so pay attention to that; you can't just turn it to a hard infinity stop.

I wanted a fast, wide lens and this is performing as expected. I know there's better (and much more expensive) glass out there, but I can't detect any flaws in this one.

I use it with a Fujifilm X-T3. A little bit of vignetting, reduced at f/2.8 and gone at f/4.0. Pretty sharp, even in the corners. Light weight for a 12/2.0. I wish it had a chip to communicate the aperture and the focal for the EXIF file generated by the camera. A position 'Auto' for the aperture would be also nice.

With limited use I am pleased with the lens, however the hood had to be reworked to make it stay on the lens

Hi, would this lease be compatible with Fujifilm X-T1?
Asked by: Tran
No, it would not. The Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS Lens for Micro Four Thirds Mount (Black), B&H # SA122M43B, is designed for use on cameras that use the Micro Four Thirds lens mount. The Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS Lens for Fujifilm X-Mount (Black), B&H # SA122FXB, would instead be the correct lens for use on a Fujifilm X-mount lens mount.

How is the warranty for this lens?

This lens is very good. The bright f/2 maximum aperture in a very solid metal lens mount and with low weight. Aperture control and focusing are both completely manual. The focusing ring is well damped, and smooth to operate, which makes focusing a pleasure. Taking images of anything over a meter or two away is straightforward, as the lens can simply be left set to infinity.

Does anyone know of a filter holder that doesn't cause vignetting on this superwide lens?
Asked by: John
Using a thinner screw in filter like the B+W XS-Pro series to prevent vignetting. Using a filter holder with an adapter can be a hit or miss situation.

question

I had the Rokinon and I bought the Samyang recently and was comparing the two and the focus on Samyang is at a different mark on the focus ring and is a bit softer than the Rokinon. You think I might have a bad copy of the Samyang? See the comparisons here:https://ibb.co/hfEMSThttps://ibb.co/dYR1SThttps://ibb.co/gRajgohttps://ibb.co/kA7x1ohttps://ibb.co/jm1eE8https://ibb.co/nsy4gohttps://ibb.co/eAnanThttps://ibb.co/g74c1ohttps://ibb.co/mmcanT
Asked by: Sameer P.
Sorry, we cannot see those images. If both the focus distance is off and the image is soft, then that is all you need to know that you should exchange the lens. The performance of these two lenses should be identical since they are made in the same factory, by the same people, and out of the same parts. Only the name is different.
