GOAL ZERO 42011 overview

  • 1Description

Whether your camping, RV-ing, or investing in emergency preparedness, the Sherpa 100 Solar Charging Kit with 110VAC Inverter from GoalZero provides a complete portable power station with the Sherpa 100 battery pack, Nomad 20 solar panel and the Sherpa 110VAC Inverter. This kit is ideally suited for charging devices from smart phones to laptops and most electronics in between.

  • Sherpa 100 Power Pack

Designed to charge and power a wide array of equipment, GOAL ZERO's Sherpa 100 Power Pack features dual USB ports for smartphones and tablets, along with a 12VDC output for lights and other devices and a port designed specifically for laptops. It also includes the required power cable and laptop tips. You can simultaneously charge the Sherpa while using it to charge/power a device. For longer runtimes, the unit can be chained with other Sherpas via the 9.0mm sidecar port.

Additionally, an optional detachable AC inverter outputs 110V or 220VAC for DSLR cameras and other electronics. The Sherpa 100 can be recharged from an AC wall outlet using the supplied AC adapter, or from a 12VDC vehicle power port via the included 12V adapter. Additionally, you can use an optional portable solar panel for recharging. The Li-NMC battery has 11V of output power, an 8800mAh capacity, and a rating of 98 Wh, and an easy-to-read battery monitor/screen shows the available power. The Sherpa has a replaceable fuse to protect the devices plugged into it. A UV coating prevents scratches.

  • Sherpa 110VAC Inverter

The Sherpa 110VAC Inverter from GoalZero provides a standard US 3-prong grounded outlet for 110VAC devices. It is compatible with the GoalZero Sherpa 100 and Sherpa 50 v.2. The inverter matches the look and form of the Sherpa, so it won't look out of place when it's plugged in. A mounting screw on the inverter securely attaches it to the Sherpa so it won't accidentally get pulled off. This mounting configuration allows it to be attached while retaining full access to the other output ports, the battery indicator and switches. The Sherpa Inverter has its own on/off switch and LED power indicator.

  • Nomad 20W Solar Panel

The Nomad 20 Solar Panel from Goal Zero is a solar panel for charging Goal Zero Sherpa 50/100 Power Packs, Yeti 150/400 Solar Generators, and compatible USB and 12V devices like cellphones, GPS, and iPods. It features monocrystalline silicon cells capable of producing 20W of electrical power with an open circuit voltage from 18 to 22 Volts. The cells of the solar panel are made of monocrystalline silicon which provides a higher conversion efficiency rates than polycrystalline silicon because it is made out of the higher-grade material. At the back of the panel, you will find output power hub with four pig-tailed connectors: a standard power USB output, a 2.5 mm Mini Solar Port, a female-type 8 mm blue-coded Solar Port, and a male-type 8 mm blue-coded Solar Port. The USB and Mini Solar ports have built-in regulators to provide constant power outputs. While the male-type 8 mm blue-coded Solar Port provides an open circuit voltage of 18-22V and can be used for charging select devices, the female-type 8 mm Solar Port can only be used for in series connection with a maximum of three other Nomad 20 Panels. These four units connected in series may be used when a high total output power or a significant reduction in charging times are needed.

To protect the solar cells from elements, dust and mechanical damage, this panel is outfitted with tempered glass windows. The nylon exterior reduces overall weight and adds flexibility for folding and unfolding the three section of the panel. To keep the panel tightly folded for transporting and storage, there are built in permanent magnets around the frame. If you have extra cables and accessories to connect and carry around with your solar panel, there is a large flap with zipper in the back, which forms a large accessories pouch. Additionally, there are eleven nylon loops around the perimeter of entire solar panel and one on its closure to allow options for a secure attachment in a variety of settings. The Nomad 20 has a weather proof construction and includes a female-type 12V adapter.

GOAL ZERO 42011 reviews

Sherpa 100 Solar Charging Kit with 110VAC Inverter is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from simple powerful just bought this system to use on a 5 day trek in Bhutan. This seems to be the only light weight Solar charging system that can charge an Apple Lap top. Test so far Inverter outlet charged Apple Air Mac 13 in 1 hr 20 minutes. very fast took 80% of the power stored in the Sherpa 100 battery. The Sherpa 100 has 2 USB out put ports and they will charge an I phone 5. But they won't charge camera batteries using the Watson battery chargers. The Watson's don't light up/ don't charge up. I have to use the inverter 110 output port to charge them up. Strange. The Nomad 20 Solar panel powers up the Sherpa in part shade it charged 1/2 in a day. Too soon to really comment. I will come back in a month

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for Recently purchased this system and put it through a short trial. The Sherpa battery unit came ~3/4 charged...topped off via AC in very little time (wasn't watching the clock). Used it a couple days later to run/charge a Gen1 13" iPad Pro for about an hour which only depleted the battery about 25%. Next day was sunny so I attached the Nomad panel for about 3-4 hours until power indicated full. Overall really pleased with this kit. It comes with almost every adapter for charging and being charged you can imagine, and generic ports for those you can't. Build quality is fine. Price, though a bit steep, is not outlandish. About the only thing missing is a pouch for the Sherpa piece itself (Nomad is self-contained and has storage onboard for all adapters). All in all this kit is a pretty solid value.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great balance of features, weight, and size I purchased thisSherpa 100 kit and use it primarily for car camping where I charge my laptop, tablet, and DSLR batteries. The device is also used to power a CPAP via the 12v output. Charging the battery via the panels is faster than I thought it would be. Easy to deploy, plenty of points to attach small carabiners for hanging/positioning the panel, and the cords are plenty long enough. No complaints at all with performance, size, or weight. I intend to purchase the larger Yeti 400 in the near future. Overall, the kit is quite good. Area of improvement: the bottom of the battery case is hard plastic ensuring it slips easily on most surfaces. I attached some rubber pads to keep it from sliding around, but having an integrated rubber pad over the entire bottom panel would be a better solution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Does exactly what it says. I bought a second one since it went on a flash sale, now I do not have to have multiple batteries for all my devices and cameras. Charged 3 drone batteries and controllers from Mavic air and still had 20% left in less than 45 mins.
