FUJIFILM Wide 300 Overview

Instantly capture moments and create memories with the black INSTAX Wide 300 Instant Film Camera from FUJIFILM. Utilizing large format INSTAX instant film, the INSTAX Wide 300 can create images 2.4 x 3.9" in size on a 3.4 x 4.3" piece of film. It also features a retractable 95mm f/14 lens with a two-range focus zone setting for capturing sharp imagery, as well as a 0.37x optical viewfinder with a target spot for composing images.

Built into the INSTAX Wide 300 is a flash with automatic power settings and a fill flash mode. This complements the auto exposure settings to produce well-lit images. Exposure compensation is available from ±2/3 EV via a lighten-darken control for adjusting the shots based on the situation. Also, there is an LCD screen that displays number of shots remaining, the exposure compensation, and flash mode.

Additional features of the camera include a film pack confirmation window to check and see if film is loaded and a tripod socket for when additional stability is needed. A close-up lens adapter is included for focusing as close as 15.5" from the subject, and the INSTAX Wide 300 runs on four AA batteries and comes with a strap.

I've used multiple instant photography cameras in my life and this is by far the most horrible tool i've owned. It made me want to stop instant photography. First of all, there is no best case scenario with this camera. The results seems to be entirely based on luck. You're not suppose to get 6 awful results for 2 acceptable pictures only because you do instant photography. It's totaly unreliable. I've tested the L (light) vs the D (dark) mode at a reasonnable distance (2m or so) and they both give exactly what you do not need. Basicly, the L will light up your subject so bad that you can't see any traits on his face no more, and the D mode will render a completly dark subject where there is no trait to be seen on his face either. So now, you're going to tell me that I'm suppose to leave it on the neutral mode right? which obviously I did. The flash works half of the time, regardless of if I turn it off or on (like... what??). Don't even think about shooting if there is a strong light source anywhere in the frame (sky, reflection on water, a bright day...) because no matter what mode you're on, it'll find a way to either make everything too bright or too light. Stick to polaroid.

If you haven't tried film and would like to, this is an affordable way to experience analog photography and get instant photos that you can see come to life in your hands. Its an amazing thing. It's even more fun when you bring it around with others and captures moments and give them the photos. Its special because something physical and just another digital image on your phone. In terms of the camera, it's very comfortable, almost feels like the same grip but a lot cheaper as my Nikon Z6 haha. It is very plasticky and probably would break or cause damage to the internals if it was to be dropped or take a hard hit. So be careful. I wish the camera had better control over the exposure, you only get Light, Normal and Dark modes. I also would prefer to have a way to disable the on board flash. You can only force it on or have it automatically decide. I want to decide! Other than the lack of manual controls, the camera works great and its very fun to shoot with and push you're creativity. If you're an avid digital photographer and you want to take a break and experience something more challenging, try Instant photography. The only think I don't like about it is the waste when it comes to the film. The boxes, the foil and the plastic cartridges. Try to recycle it if you can!

The FujiFilm Instax Wide 300 camera provides a lot of fun. I currently own two expensive digital cameras and many expensive lenses for those cameras. The instant film will not provide the digital quality you have come to experience, but then, I am glad that is not the case. This camera takes you back to the old days of film photography with the bonus of being able to see what you shot in a relatively short time. I truly believe this camera and film have made me a better digital photographer. And if you think people around you don't like an instant film shot, think again. They will actually take photos of it with their cell phone. Buy it, have fun, and enjoy being the center of attention.

It's a great camera that captures a throwback vibe-a little bigger in my hands than I was expecting. There is a slightly cheap, light, plastic-y feel to it, but for the price and the usage, it's probably not worth fixating on that.

What is the difference between the Fuji wide 300 and the Polaroid Z340?

These are cameras made by two different manufacturers (Polaroid and Fujifilm). As well, the Z340 prints 3x4 pictures, whereas the Instax 300 prints 2.4 x 3.9 images. The two cameras have different lenses with different fixed apertures (the Instax 300 is a fixed 95mm f/14 lens and the Z340 has a 7.53mm f/3.5 aperture with 5x digital zoom). The Z340 has an adjustable ISO and the Instax 300 is only ISO 800.
