It's light (about half the weight of Canon/Nikon 70-200) , it's very sharp, the bokeh is beautiful, and the colors are stunning right out of camera. The AF speed is incredible. It's worth it to have an NX1 just for this lens.

Fantastic lens

This lens, when pared with an NX1, raises the definition of sharp to a new level. I'll call it surgically sharp. I've had primes from other manufacturers which were sharp. But looking back at footage from them compared to this lens, and they now seem soft. Great job on this lens Samsung!

My 3rd Samsung lens. My 16mm pancake and 85mm both are very good/great lenses for their price. But, this 50-150mm probably wont be coming off my NX1 body for quite some time. It's that good.

good IQ horrible autofocus..

I wanted a quality lens that gave me more reach. i had the 50-200 lens but hated the IQ the 50-150 the image quality is much sharper and produces good colors.. my biggest pet peeve with this lens is the auto focus..in anything but strong light it struggles to lock focus. also the Focus limit switch is useless.. if you are invested in the samsung camera system this might be a good purchase but be aware Samsung is more or less out of the camera business.

Impressive!

I bought this lens for the NX1, which I use primarily for videography, and have been very impressed with its image quality. Several days ago I recorded neighborhood carolers at night, and the clarity and color of the video was outstanding. Likewise, the photos I have taken have been sharp with great control of the DOF.

question

I am looking at the NX1 again and am considering this as my telephoto zoom. I currently use a (borrowed) canon 70D with the efs 55-250 lens the the focal length is good for what I want to video at the long end. I want to have the same or close reach with the NX1, will this lens get me pretty close. I'm assuming there is a crop factor using this Lens on the NX1 but I could be wrong? Thanks

Both the Canon EFs 55-250mm and Samsung 50-150mm are designed for APS-C sensors. With Canon's 1.6 crop factor, the Canon has an effective full frame focal length of 88-400mm. With Samsung's 1.54 crop factor, the Samsung has an effective full frame focal length of 77-231mm. This shows that the Samsung lens only has 58% of the telephoto reach of the Canon lens and would not meet your needs as stated. The Samsung 50-150mm f/2.0-2.8 S is one of the finest lenses I have ever shot with in over fifty years of photography, but it is not intended for long reach in video. It does have an internal digital 2.0X tele-extender that crops the sensor (an actual crop, not a down sample), but this only works on still images, not video.Plus keep in mind that Samsung, in their own words, has parked their digital camera and lens business, though they also say that they have not officially ended it. Samsung has stopped distributing their digital camera equipment in almost the entire world (the U.S. and Korea being exception so far). There are no known roadmaps for any equipment going forward. Although the NX-1 and S lenses give excellent results, anyone wishing to buy into a system camera should think carefully before making any purchases.
