If you are looking for a solution for making desktop recordings to your computer or iOS device, check out the Rode NT-USB USB Desktop Studio Kit from B&H, which includes a Rode NT-USB USB microphone, a reflection filter, a pair of studio headphones, and a desktop stand.

The NT-USB can track your audio in up to 16-bit, 96kHz resolution and is compatible with Mac, Windows, and iOS devices when used with the camera connection kit (not included). The included reflection filter helps eliminate and absorb room reflections and noise from your recordings, while the studio headphones allow for monitoring from your recording device.

Rode NT-USB USB Microphone

Record podcasts, voice-overs, and even sung vocals for your productions with the RODE NT-USB, a USB microphone that captures broadcast-quality recordings in your home studio or mobile setup. If all you have is a room and a computer (or iOS device), you can use this microphone to record your voice with resolution and clarity.

Podcasters will appreciate the cardioid polar pattern-which naturally reduces room noise by rejecting any audio to the back and rear of the mic's capsule-as well as the built-in pop filter to minimize p-pops and plosives. Musicians will love the Direct Mix Control, as it will help them balance the level between their own voice and pre-recorded instruments without incurring latency. Both will be thankful the mic comes with all the accessories one needs to set it up right out of the box.

Designed for Your Voice, However You Use It

This mic is designed for your voice, whether you use it to podcast, record voice overs, or to sing over productions you've created in your laptop.

Works with Your Setup

The mic will operate with both Mac and Windows computers as well as iOS tablets, so long as you have the compatible adapter for mobile devices (available separately). No preamp, interface, converters, or mixer are necessary for recording your voice.

Cardioid Polar Pattern for the Untreated Room

The microphone makes use of a directional cardioid polar pattern to minimize off-axis sound. This polar pattern naturally, yet effectively tamps down room tone and focuses the audio capture on what's directly in front of the mic. Depending on your particular room, you may still need a little room treatment, or some noise-reduction software, to address issues such as your computer's hum or your air conditioner—but the chances of that are markedly lower with a cardioid polar pattern.

Built-In 3.5mm Headphone Jack and Direct Mix Control

The mic offers a headphone jack for monitoring. Just plug a pair of headphones into the NT-USB Mini's 3.5mm jack, and you'll be able to listen to your Broadcast-quality audio in all its glory. Also, a convenient volume dial helps you raise or lower the headphone volume—you won't have to change the volume on your computer or your recording software to hear audio at your desired level. Lastly, the mic has a Direct Mix Control, so you can hear your voice balanced against any pre-recorded tracks at just the right level.

Broadcast-Quality Audio Capture

The mic records audio at 16-bit / 48 kHz, giving you the broadcast standard for media playback. Your recording will be up to digital snuff with this mic!

Get Going Right Out of the Box

An included USB cable means you can get up and running right away. An included pop shield helps mitigate vocal pops and plosives for a cleaner sound. A desktop stand is included, as is a ring mount for your own mic stands, and a storage pouch for when the mic is not in use.

Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Closed-Back Monitor Headphones (Black)

Widely acclaimed for their sonic performance, one-ear monitoring capability, and foldable, travel-friendly design, the black Audio-Technica ATH-M50x M-Series monitor headphones offer pro-grade build quality and audio performance for professional studio-based production, location recording, DJing, podcasting, and daily listening. Outfitted with 45mm large-aperture dynamic drivers and an over-ear, closed-back design, the ATH-M50x headphones deliver clarity, deep bass, and extended bandwidth (15 Hz to 28 kHz) while isolating you from outside sounds.

Thanks to the 90° swiveling earcups, pro-quality materials, and generous cushioning on the headband and earpads, the headphones are both durable and comfortable to wear. Three detachable, single-sided cables—one coiled and two straight—are included for optimal operation in the studio or on the go. Each cable sports a gold-plated 3.5mm mini plug for use with mobile devices and computer soundcards, and a 1/4" screw-on adapter is included for easy hookup to audio interfaces, mixers, and stereo receivers. A carrying pouch is supplied with the ATH-M50x for convenient storage and transport of the headphones.

45mm Drivers

The ATH-M50x features proprietary 45mm large-aperture dynamic drivers with rare earth (neodymium) magnets and CCAW (copper-clad aluminum wire) voice coils for high-quality sound reproduction.

Tuned for Clarity and Deep, Accurate Bass

The drivers and headphone design work together to provide a sonic signature tuned flat for exceptional clarity throughout an extended frequency range along with deep, accurate bass character. With a frequency response of 15 Hz to 28 kHz, the ATH-M50x can reproduce a full spectrum of tones.

Over-Ear, Sound-Isolating Design

The ATH-M50x utilizes a circumaural design that contours around the ears for excellent sound isolation in loud environments. This over-ear, closed-back style is optimal for reducing bleed and separating you from outside sounds.

90° Swiveling Earcups and Foldable Design

Equipped with 90° swiveling earcups, the ATH-M50x ensures a great fit and allows effortless one-ear monitoring, a welcome benefit for DJs and singers. The earcups fold up to meet the headband, saving space during storage. A carrying pouch is supplied for protection and convenience while transporting the headphones.

Three Detachable Single-Sided Cables

To expand its versatility, the ATH-M50x incorporates a detachable cable design that exits from the left side. This enables convenient cable swapping and makes it easier to distinguish the different sides of the headphone. Three cables are included—a 3.9 to 9.8' coiled cable, a 9.8' straight cable, and a 3.9' straight cable—to let you choose the best cable for sessions, traveling, or listening at home.

3.5mm Plug and 1/4" Screw-On Adapter

The attached cable is terminated with a gold-plated 3.5mm TRS mini plug for easy hookup to mobile devices, MP3 players, and computer headphone jacks. A secure 1/4" screw-on adapter is included for compatibility connectivity with audio interfaces, mixers, and dedicated headphone amplifiers. Built-in strain relief on the 3.5mm mini plug reduces the likelihood of damaging the connection if the cable is pulled.

Pro-Grade Build Quality

Thanks to the pro-grade earpad and headband materials used in the ATH-M50x, the headphones provide increased durability and comfort while delivering enhanced audio and effective isolation.

Does the Rode NT-USB USB Desktop Studio Kit ...

Does the Rode NT-USB USB Desktop Studio Kit include the shock mount pictured?
Asked by: Will
Hello Will, the Rode NT-USB is internally shock mounted and therefore doesn't require an added shock mount. However, I see the shock mount you are referencing in the photos, and while I can't speak on behalf of B&H, I believe they are showing you the "reflection filter" that comes in this bundle and not the shock mount. As I was saying, don't stress about not getting a shock mount as the NT-USB is internally shock mounted. Enjoy.

It's an excellent voiceover mic and although I don't have a shock mount, I understand that the RODE SM6 Shock Mount will work with the NT-USB Mic.

Yes this a great microphone to record vocals, voiceover and even to be used for a podcast. I do recommend connecting your headphones on the bottom of microphone where the headphone output is located it will sound more accurate then connecting your headphones to the computer.

What is the greatest recommended distance from which a person should speak into the microphone? How is the audio quality if the person is speaking up to a foot away from it?
Asked by: Trudy
I’m not an expert but I’ve been using them for almost a year now, I’ll say that you get the best out of this mic when you are speaking very close to them. I would not recommend it as an ambient mic. I use them for podcasting or voice over and y put my mouth very close to them and the sound is outstanding

Can this microphone be directly connected to an iPad?
Asked by: Stacy
The microphone comes with a USB wire. I have a definite recollection that I did connect this microphone to an iPad at one point, but I cannot seem to locate the dongle I would have needed to accomplish that at the moment. You cannot connect it without a dongle that accepts USB to iPad connection.

Is there any xlr adapter I can use to hook up to mixer?
Asked by: Tim
This is a USB microphone, meaning that it is essentially recognized by your computer as a sound card with an attached microphone. There is no mic level output. However, there is a no-latency headphone level output. As such, while it would be a less common way to use this microphone, you could also choose to use a cable such as this one to feed the audio from this microphone to a line level input on a mixer: Hosa Technology XVM-101M Angled Stereo 3.5mm to 3-Pin XLR Male Microphone Cable (1') BH #HOSMMRAXM1

I have never seen a USB2 to USB-C cable, and neither a [email protected] to lightning cable if one were to want to use this with an iPad Pro. Perhaps if one used a hub, but those are rare as hens teeth with the USB2 on them.

I dont know how you define a "dynamic microphone" but I can tell you this mic requires a little experimental tweaking (depending on how far you want the mic to be to you ect) But after a couple of trial runs it will be the an absolutely wonderful mic with beautiful tone and sound quality!
