Not quite as useful as it would seem.
I'm not entirely clear if the problem was with this adapter or the extension tube adapter I purchased with it, but I wound up returning both as they simply did not work. Either this adapter intrudes slightly too deep when screwed in, or the other is slightly too short - the lens would bump and close again to protect itself.
