Additionally, this lens is also adept at close-up shooting with a 1:3 maximum magnification and 1.3' minimum focusing distance.

Balancing the optical capabilities, this 16.6x zoom also sports a Hyper Sonic Motor, which affords fast and precise autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus control. An Optical Stabilizer also benefits creating sharp imagery by minimizing the appearance of camera shake. Additionally, a rounded seven-blade diaphragm is featured, which contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

As part of the Contemporary line within Sigma's Global Vision series, this lens is designed to achieve a balance between convenience and performance, and meshes a compact, lightweight build and versatile handling with notable optical attributes.
All-in-one zoom is designed for APS-C-format Sigma SA-mount cameras, and provides a 27-450mm equivalent focal length range.
One Special Low Dispersion (SLD) and Four F Low Dispersion (FLD) elements are featured in the optical design and help to reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations for improved clarity and color accuracy.
Three aspherical elements are used to help limit distortion and spherical aberrations and also contribute to greater overall sharpness and accurate rendering.
A Super Multi-Layer Coating has been applied to lens elements in order to minimize lens flare and ghosting and contribute to producing contrast-rich and color-neutral imagery, even in backlit conditions.
Ideal for close-up shooting, this lens offers a 1:3 maximum magnification along with a minimum focusing distance of 1.3' to suit working with nearby subjects.
Integrated HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), along with a rear focus system, realizes quick and quiet autofocus, which is further complemented by an optimized AF algorithm to produce smoother focusing performance. The HSM also permits full-time manual focus control simply by rotating the focus ring at any time.
Optical Stabilizer system minimizes the appearance of camera shake to benefit making sharper imagery when shooting handheld.
Rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality.
Constructed using a Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) material for greater precision and use in wide temperature variations. Additionally, a brass bayonet affords improved mounting accuracy and rigidity.
Zoom lock switch helps to prevent accidental and unwanted zoom adjustment.
This lens is compatible with the optional Sigma USB Dock for fine-tuning different lens characteristics and updating its firmware.

Sigma 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM Cont... Reviews

Amazing zoom range, great for Sports

Pros: Zoom range, sharp optics, good build quality. Cons:Stiff zoom ring (might loosen up), tiny focus ring in front of zoom ring. If you're touching it won't focus. Slow focus compared to USM on my Canon. Taking some getting used to but overall I'm very pleased with this lens.

I like it a lot but...

It does every thing I wanted in a replacement for my Sigma 18-250 which was getting a little worn. The only small concern is that it seems that focus at long distances at 300MM seems a bit fuzzy. Haven't tested it enough to definitely say its a faule and I still need to review my own focusing techniques on this but otherwise it is a good replacement. Close up it is tack sharp.

Great, affordable, compact - win, win, win

I did quite a bit of research into this lens. I wanted a lens with a long focal range and image stabilization. I decided on the Sigma over the Tamron mostly because I've had issues with Tamron lenses in the past and vowed never to buy another one. I am extremely happy with my choice and very impressed with this lens.

This is an awesome lens that I highly recommend to anyone who needs the versatility of it and who also wants to walk around using it without a tripod. I love the macro and have taken gorgeous close ups of butterflies. I was also able to get great photos at 300 mm of birds when I am close to the trees they are in.

I absolutely love this lens! I love the macro on it and have used it for my butterfly photos with great results. I can have it on 300 mm and get within inches of the butterfly on the flower and it works as a macro. I was totally amazed by it! My images are high quality. I use it exclusively on my Canon 80D. I would love to see Canon make lenses just like this one!

The Macro Is Wonderful

The thing I like most about this lens is the macro. I have used the macro for butterfly and flower photography with excellent results. I wanted the extra telephoto of 300 for birds and have not had a chance to get many bird photos with it but the few I have gotten are ok. I find that using manual focus works best for me in macro and also for birds. The auto focus on this lens and also my 600 lens does not always focus accurately or fast enough as it is searching and by the time you do get an auto focus the bird or butterfly is already gone.

Great lens!

I've been looking for an all-in-one lens - tired of always having to switch from my standard to telephoto! I've just started playing with it, but so far, it's everything I need in a lens!

A great wildlife lens

This has quickly become my main lens, especially when walking or hiking in the woods. It lets me shoot closer subjects like plants or squirrels and then quickly zoom in to birds in the treetops. The zoom lock is incredibly useful when walking with my camera on a shoulder strap. It keeps gravity from zooming the lens out, which was a major issue with my previous lens.

Sigma 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM ...

Sigma 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM Contemporary Lens for Sigma SA. Is this for Sigma FP?
Asked by: Chul Ho
This is for the Sigma SA mount, the FP take L series Leica or Panasonic mount. You can get the Sigma 18-300 for Canon and then use a Canon to L lens adapter. This is however a cropped sensor lens, so you will only be using about 60% of the sensor.

This lens can be adapted to work with the Sony A6500. You will need the Sigma MC-11 Mount Converter/Lens Adapter (Sigma SA-Mount Lenses to Sony E), B&H # SIMC11S, to use this lens on that camera. https://bhpho.to/2kOjrLs

I am not familiar with the 700d, but it should fit. I use mine on the Canon 7d which is a crop sensor. It will fit on my full-frame 5d but the pictures have a black ring around the edge.
