LEICA SUPERB ZOOM

I recently purchased a Leica Cl and wanted a compact zoom for the kit. After much research , I decided on the Leica 11-23 and couldn't be more pleased! Most impressive is the sharpness at all apertures! When I tested the lens and compared the corner sharpness, vignetting, and overall color and contrast to my Leica 21 Super Elmar, it actually outperformed my Super Elmar in many ways. I made the right choice and look forward to many years of enjoyment from this superb lens on my new camera!

16.5-34.5mm full-frame equivalent, sharp, good contrast, very little distortions, compact enough. It is now the most used lens on my Leica CL. With it, plus the old Elmar-C 90F4.0 and 7Artisans 50F1.1 CL became one wonderful camera set for this travel the world and photo it vagabond.

This lens is a great little versatile lens. The first I chose to have on a Leica CL. It handles wide and ultra wide shots with outstanding IQ plus a good walking focal length in the 35mm equivalent. Amazingly sharp to the corners in all focal lengths. The type of magic that Leica places in their image making is hard to describe, with excellent neutral color rendition and sharpness. This is just the first of a couple of lens I want to build around the camera. It covers a good list of focal lengths; 16, 24, 28 and 35mm. Can't wait to add a couple more lens to complete the system.

This is a great little zoom... an amazing lens for landscape and city... it holds up at all focal lengths to pixel peepers but don't give in to that unrealistic examination... instead, enjoy the warmth and color. It has that Leica look which is why we use these cameras to begin with.

question

What is the E. Leitz issue with this out-of-stock lens design/manufacuiring problems, high demand, something else?
Asked by: Alexander
There is no specific cause for this lens being out of stock. In fact, it is more normal for this brand to be out rather than in. This has do to with high demand, high build standards and low production. Basically, the customer buys the lens and waits. Their patience is rewarded by then possessing one of the finest lenses in the world. We rarely, if ever, hear customers saying the wait was not worth it.

The Leica Super-Vario-Elmar-T 11-23mm f/3.5-4.5 ASPH is an L-mount lens designed for the APS-C/Super 35 format. When used with your Panasonic Lumix S5, you might be forced to use it in cropped/Super 35 mode in order to avoid vignetting at certain focal lengths. Your results may vary.

question

This lens can works at sony a7 II?
Asked by: Anonymous
The Leica 11-23mm lens is designed to fit Leica L-mount cameras (T, TL, CL, TL2, and SL at present). It cannot be adapted to other lens mounts in any practical way because it is dependent upon electrical power and control signals that only L-mount cameras provide.

question

Which wide angle lens is best for lumix gx8?
Asked by: Anonymous
A good wide-angle lens from Panasonic, Olympus, or Cosina/Voigtlnder that has a Micro-FourThirds lens mount. The Leica 11-23mm lens cannot be adapted to Micro-FourThirds cameras.

question

Can I put this on a Leica SL?
Asked by: Anthony L.
You can, and the SL will automatically set it up as crop sensor and produce roughly 10 megapixel images out of it. So in theory you are better off buying a 16 megapixel Leica T (which are even relatively cheap nowadays). However, this might be an ideal SL lens if you want to use its 4K video mode, because the SL 4K video operates at a crop sensor size. So if you use this on the SL in 4K mode it will work just as well as the larger, heavier and more expensive full frame lenses would.
