The Leica V-LUX (Typ 114) Digital Camera is an advanced point-and-shoot digital camera with the form factor of a DSLR. It has a 20MP, 1" MOS sensor, a 16x zoom lens, and UHD 4K video capability.

The built-in, DC Vario-Elmarit, 9.1-146mm f/2.8-4.0 ASPH lens has a 35mm equivalent focal length of 25-400mm. Optical Image Stabilization helps minimize the appearance of camera shake, resulting in sharper images, and 4x digital zoom and 32x intelligent zoom provide the lens with an extended focal range. The moderately fast aperture, combined with a native sensitivity range of ISO 120-12500 allow the lens to perform in situations with low light.

The V-LUX captures high-quality MP4 video files in resolutions up to 3840 x 2160 UHD 4K, and a built-in microphone can record stereo audio while recording video.

A 3", 920k-dot, rotatable, LCD screen on the camera enables photo review and menu navigation, and a 0.39", OLED, 2,360k-dot, electronic viewfinder allows for accurate composition. Built-in Wi-Fi and NFC allow for instant image sharing and remote control via the Image Shuttle App.

Leica DC Vario-Elmarit 9.1-146mm f/2.8-4.0 ASPH Lens

This 16x optical zoom lens provides a 25-400mm equivalent focal length, giving you a full range of wide-angle to super-telephoto lengths. The built-in OIS and fast aperture range combine to allow for handheld shooting at long distance, even in poor light.

20MP 1" MOS Sensor

A much improved sensor from the V-LUX 4's 12MP CMOS sensor, this larger sensor provides more megapixels, a narrower depth of field, and delivers higher-quality images at up to a native ISO 12500, or extended to ISO 25000.

High-Resolution Integrated EVF with 2.36 Million Pixels

This 2.4MP 0.39" OLED electronic viewfinder has approximately 2.36 million pixels, and features an eye sensor and diopter adjustment.

3" Multi-Axis Rotate-and-Tilt LCD

The LCD screen has 920k dots and is rotatable to aid in shooting from different angles.

UHD 4K Video

The V-LUX not only shoots in full HD, but UHD 4K video as well, at a resolution of 3840 x 2160.

Performance Speed

When using the electronic shutter, the V-LUX can shoot up to 50 fps, and up to 12 fps when using the mechanical shutter.

Image Shuttle App

Allows you to control the camera's functions from your smart device.

Leica V-Lux (Typ 114) Reviews

Very Useful Camera due to Range of f/ and clarity

Unless you want a back-full of many varied and perhaps more accurate lenses, this one camera with 25 to 400 lens settings and f's from 2.8 to 4.0 gives a very useful collection in one device, smaller than the typical SLR cameras, and better quality than most of them. Take some extra batteries, the installed batteries get used quickly on focusing and testing, but they recharge easily. I got rid of all my old Nikons and am happy with one widely used device. I also like the Leica lenses ... even though this not not one of their more expensive cameras, the clarity is equal to any of the Nikons. I am lazy, so mostly use the automated controls, except set the focus selection for the purpose of the shooting Go simple, be happy.

Surprisingly pleased with this camera

Purchased this camera to replace a Nikon F4 for extended travel. Appears very well built for a Panasonic product. Many of the camera's options are superb and a pleasant surprise in a camera at this price point. Owner's manual is only available as a PDF file, which is of little benefit unless you only use your camera while sitting in front of your computer. Further, the manual is over 300 pages in length and very convoluted. Still not certain the quality of the photos are all that one would expect of a Leica product, but early results are quite promising and I'm hoping this will prove an excellent point and shoot option.

I have enjoyed and appreciated the performance of my V Lux 1 for many years. The new V Lux is clearly in a different league. There is a learning curve. The guide book is not designed to take you through the functions of the V Lux. The guide that you need is on line and exceptionally well done and user friendly. The images are exceptional in a light weight travel comfortable camera. This is a high performing high value camera.

Love It!

If you're looking for a light weight can do anything camera this is it. I own professional grade cameras and lens that I use for my serious work however their too darn heavy to lug around all the time (I'm never without a camera). I also wanted something that can do most anything I need in one package and this is it (wide angle to telephoto to macro). Only slight drawback is it likely wouldn't handle very dusty or wet situations well. Best backup and general use camera I've ever owned.

counter to the top critical review of the original V-Lux

Interesting that the top critical review felt that the V-Lux would not stand up to a beating. That is too bad since I have had mine since December 2013 and have taken on all of my motorcycle adventures including 1 about 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle! The camera has never let me down! I have also taken the camera on numerous bicycle trips including one in the summer of 2016 from Washington, DC to Cumberland, MD along the C&O Towpath. Much of that ride was in heavy rain and in adverse conditions. The V-Lux made it through with flying colors!

High Image Quality and a Long Range Zoom

I bought this camera because it has a 1 sensor coupled with a 400mm equivalent zoom. I wanted excellent image quality in an All-In-One camera when I don't feel like carrying extra lenses. This camera works perfectly for that criteria. It not pocketable. In fact it's q bit large, but you can't get a lens of this range much smaller in a camera with this sensor size. While the image quality is not as high as my full-frame SLR and Leica M, it will give APS-C sensor cameras some competition. If you want high image quality coupled with a long range zoom, this might be the camera for you.

I have ben a photographer for more than 30 years I have used the Nikon F3 and F5 also Mamiya 645 . I started to look for a camera that would take good photos with out all the extra things that I needed for my other camera . I took my time and looked at a lot, This one gave me the most for what I was looking for , It does take some time to get use to but itis no more troubleto use than any other out there . I would recommend to anyone this is a great camera it has lot of features that do take sometime to learn but well worth the time . Now on to the lens that they put on this camera, it put it over the top for me it fast and clear you won't be sorry if you go with this camera.

Ordered fron B&H, excellent timing the delivery and great price. Superb Camera. Zooming ring super smooth and precise, as well as manual focusing with it. Extremely fast in focusing and shooting. Unnoticeable lag time. Starting ON/OFF time is almost inmediate. Fantastic in low light... ISO 3,600 -- 6,400 very manejable... I has a V-Lux 4 and was happy with it but this one is wow... 2 or 3 times faster and smoother... More controls and seems more rugged.

I owned a V Lux 2 and sold it shortly after because it's low light performance was substandard. Is this version better? My Canon 6D and 7D2 are great performers even up to 12,000 ISO. I realize this Leica's image sensor is much smaller than either of my Canon's so I'm not expecting as good results.
