Benro A48TDS6 overview

  • 1Description

This Benro A48TDS6 Series 4 Aluminum Monopod includes the 3-Leg Locking Base and S6 Video Head to give you a versatile still or video camera support system. Able to hold up to 13.2 lb and extend to 72.8", the removable base provides three solid points of contact with the ground, and acts like a mini tripod. A ball joint on the base allows you to smoothly pan and tilt your camera, and it can be locked so that you can pan with the head independently.

The base can be replaced with the included rubber foot for standard monopod use. The four leg sections are secured by twist locks, and it folds down to 27.2" for transport in the included carrying case. The S6 is a compact video head with 360° rotation, a posi-step counterbalance system, and variable tilt drag control. There are separate pan and tilt lock levers, and a sliding quick release plate helps to balance the camera.

  • S6 Video Head

Weighing just 2.6 lb, the Benro S6 Video Head is a compact video head capable of supporting cameras weighing up to 13.2 lb. The posi-step counterbalance system has four settings of 0.0, 4.4, 9.9 and 13.2 lb. The S6 has 360° panning rotation and variable tilt drag for smooth camera moves. There are separate pan and tilt lock levers for locked-off shots.

The sliding quick release (QR) plate helps balance the camera, and the head comes with a safety lock for the QR plate. The S6 video head accepts 501PL compatible QR plates, making it easy to find spares or replacements.

The illuminated bubble level, with included CCR1220 battery, helps level the S6 in the dark. The adjustable pan handle can be mounted on either side of the S6 head using the built-in mounting rosettes. The S6 can be mounted onto ball adapters, tripods, and other camera supports via the 3/8"-16 threaded female receiver on the magnesium alloy flat base.

Benro A48TDS6 reviews

A48TDS6 Series 4 Aluminum Monopod with 3-Leg Locking Base and S6 Video Head is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy. This was a buy I couldn't turn up... I was in the market for a monopod and when I saw this it sealed the deal... It was a toss up between the Benro and the Manfrotto... but the price on this was great... in essence the monopod was free for the price of the head alone I love the S6 head... though after getting it I guess I could really have gone with the S4... test la vie. All in all couldn't be happier... B&H have some great prices... Only complaint I have is the shipping costs to Hawaii - but I guess that is out of their control.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is it I always do my research before investing, doesn't matter the amount I spend. I was inclined to purchase the Manfrotto monopod but after reading reviews about the panning issues I decided to go with the Benro one. The Benro comes with three different heads, I normally use a camcorder (Sony NX 5U) and soon the Sony Z150. I purchased the S6 head (biggest) and I'm glad I did. For DSLR's the smaller heads will be fine. The tilting and panning are smooth and the locking system is great, the twist mechanism rather than the locking system like the previous models. The height is perfect, fully extended it goes to 6ft (see picture) and I'm 6 feet myself. The bag that the Monopod comes with is very durable and easy to carry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Serious Heavy Duty I have been eyeing this rig for some time. The build and quality of materials is excellent! I really only needed the monopod but with the recent price drop, I went ahead and purchased the set with the S6 video head. I wanted the monopod with the feet to hold up my Sigma 120-300 f2.8 Sport with either a 1D or a 5d gripped attached to keep it from spinning/turning left or right too easily (as with rubber feat monopods) it fits the bill and it's built like a tank.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid, good quality monopod This is a good quality monopod with a strong fluid head, capable of holding up to 13lbs. Without a camera it's definitely a manageable size and weight. This also comes with a nice carrying case. As with most monopods, you can remove the S6 video head if you wanted to transfer it to sticks, a dolly, Kessler crane, etc.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Monopods are soooo NOT tripods. And this one is amazing! I'm a producer who also shoots and edits personal projects on the side. I had my eye on a Manfroto monopod for quite some time, but because I've only ever used tripods, shoulder mounts, or gimbals, I was hesitant to take the leap. My initial reaction is positive. It's a little heavier than I expected but that's probably because of the rather stout fluid head. I'm looking at options for switching out the head when I don't need such a heavy duty one. I'm still getting used to moving around with a monopod so I'm sure there will be a few tutorial vids in my future. It arrived without a manual and with a dead battery for the LED but B+H quickly resolved that for me. Overall I'm happy. I think I'll be even happier once I figure out how to unlock the full potential of a monopod.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fine but a bit disappointing Bought this for a job but I will be returning, as it ended up being a bit too flimsy and lightweight. I ended up renting a Manfrotto instead. It's not that the monopod is bad, just a bit too prosumer for me. I wouldn't recommend using anything above a DSLR with this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Monopod I have used the Benro S6 head for awhile now and recently added the S6 monopod to my kit. This is a great monopod for the price. Easily competes with more expensive Manfrotto sticks. The head is very smooth and I like the tilt adjustment.
