Capture colors on the go with the arctic white Palette Cube. This portable device allows you to record ambient light, temperature, and color data for any physical object. Simply place your Cube on the color you'd like to record and press the button, and the Cube stores all the data needed to reproduce that exact color. It can store up to 20 colors internally, as well as connecting to the Cube smartphone app via Bluetooth 4.0. The Cube also syncs in real time with Adobe Creative Cloud for use with Illustrator and Photoshop, including built-in libraries like Pantone.

The Cube Link App stores your Cube's colors and data, providing you with detailed L*a*b*/RGB/CMYK/HEX/LRV color information about each capture. It matches colors to paint and color databases and allows you to star and tag your colors so you can easily sort by project, color family, and more. It also reveals ambient temperature, provides light intensity readings, shows battery level, and prompts you when your Cube requires calibration.

The Cube's internal battery is capable of up to 7,000 captures on a single charge, and can remain on standby for up to three months. Its "always-on" design allows for quick wake-up and capture. It comes with a USB sync and charging cable as well as a cap that doubles as a recalibration surface.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful for design work Useful tool for implmenting real color in my design work. I do a lot of work in Photoshop and having the Cube Link software makes it very easy and quick to ensure I have client chosen colors in designs. Disadvantages - I also use a lot of Illustrator and Cube Link doesn't support this software yet. But apparently it is coming soon.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great! I love this. It's what I always needed. At least as accurate as my eyes. Two things that make it less than perfect: does not show the paint numbers. Just the manufacturer color names. Requires that I look up the name of a Ben Moore color on the Internet to find the number. And 2nd: no sherein williams or pong colors. Hair Behr and Ben Moore

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not worth its price The Cube/Swatchmate falls short in too many areas to be worth its sticker price of $179.95.I had high expectations following its successful KickStarter campaign and was excited to open up my package when it arrived. Swatchmate's designer was noticeably inspired by Apple, so I was surprised to find its battery DOA. So after charging via the included micro-USB cord (no charge block included), I set out to capture some colors.Unfortunately, my experience with the device wasn't as marketed and any hope of pro-level accuracy evaporated quickly...The unit crashed a few times -- this seemed to clear up once it was recalibrated. But its match rate when sampling actual Benjamin Moore paint swatches was only 40-50%. It failed 2 out of 5 tries, performing better on blue, green and purple hues than on yellow, orange or red. Its capture rate was about half when matching off-whites. Matching shades was more fruitful than tints. It failed to match any of B/M Kids Room colors.(Note that it IS possible that its software cannot diagnose discontinued or renamed colors. However, the ability to do so should be a simple database cross reference.)The Cube did sync seamlessly via Bluetooth to my iPhone using the free app. But using the app wasn't what I expected either. The app's interface is considerably different than the one depicted in their marketing (e.g. no photo support), is not intuitive, has no in-app Help and its sole Support link displays an error message: No help desk at www.support.palette.com -- not very comforting. In the end, I am disappointed that the Cube/Swatchmate falls short of its mark. It is too inaccurate as a pro tool and WAY too expensive to justify its use as a weekend design tool. If it were priced at $30-40, it would be worth keeping as a toy for use on fun projects which would not demand color accuracy. Unfortunately, I'll be returning my Cube/Swatchmate promptly to B&H for a refund.
