Sunwayfoto PCL-5DIIIR Reviews

Works great

It works great for my Canon 5D III. That's really all I needed, it works. One thing though, I don't like the screw that comes with it - you have to use an allen wrench to loosen and tighten, which is inferior to some of the brackets that just comes with the rotatable functions.

The Sunwayfoto PCL-5DIIIR L Bracket fits my Canon 5D Mark III perfectly. It also works well with my Acratech GP Ballhead. Life is so much easier with this bracket attached to my camera.

I work with two Canon 5DSR bodies generally attached to long telephoto lenses. Recently I've needed to use my 24-105mm lens more and having this bracket to attach to my ball head has made life much easier.

After switching all my heads to Area clamps I searched all possible L-brackets for the camera. Granted, I'm a fan of RRS but their similar bracket is $90 more than this one by Sunwayphoto. I've had the Sun for several months now and it is an excellent bracket! It fits perfectly and allows access to all the ports without any hassle. If you are on the fence about this and/or other brands, you'll be happy with this one. My brother saw mine, tried it and ordered one for himself.

Good L-bracket for a reasonable cost

I actually started with a 3-Legged Thing, but found it obstructed a cable when attached. I returned with absolutely no hassle at all and replaced it with the recommended Sunwayfoto bracket. So far it appears to be just fine. Also ordered/received one for my Mk IV as well. While I'd love to purchase a RRS bracket I just can't swing the cost right now. Perhaps somewhere in the future. For now, the Sunwayfoto brackets work well on both my Mk III and Mk IV. I found that I had to attach the Manfrotto QR plate to the bottom to get it to fit the tripod head. The bottom of hte L-bracket just would not fit in the Manfrotto tripod head. The side bracket fits just fine.

Great bracket not for macro

This bracket works well with Canon 5D Markiii. It allows you to quickly go from vertical to horizontal. I use it on really right stuff ball head. The only downside is when I was doing some maco photography. I notice ithat I was setting up camera holding camera the bracket allow the camera to move slightly. So if I focus on tiny frog eyes when I let go of camer it move a bit in bracket. I would not recommend for macro photography.

question

Just a note that the Sunwayfoto PCL-5DIIIR replaces the PCL-5DIII model. Sunwayfoto no longer produces the PCL-5DIII. Apparently the PCL-5DIIIR can also support RRS clamps?

Yes, the newer version, Sunwayfoto PCL-5D111R works with RRS as well as Arca-Swiss.

This bracket is compatible with Arca-type QR clamps; the QR clamp on the Befree Advanced Travel tripod does not have an Arca-type clamp, so they are not compatible.

question

HOW ABOUT 6D? DOES FIT?
Asked by: Osamu G.
I don't think so. These brackets are set up to fit specific models. It may bolt up to the 6D, but the jack flaps probably won't be able to open and it may get in the way of the swivel live view screen. You should purchase the right one for your camera.

question

Will this fit my Sirui Ball Head?
Asked by: Jim
I am not familiar with the Sirui ball head, but I needed this (<a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/906573-REG/Sunwayfoto_DDC_60i_Screw_Knob_Clamp.html target= _blank >http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/906573-REG/Sunwayfoto_DDC_60i_Screw_Knob_Clamp.html</a>) for my manfrotto ball head. I just removed the quick release plate that came with the ball head and put the DDC screw knob clamp in it's place. Works amazing! One of the best additions to my set up I've purchased.
