Yes the cable works.
I was advised to buy this because it's listed as compatible, but it doesn't work on my PEN-F. The official Olympus remote release just works without configuration, but plugging this cable in, with or without the Vello FreeWave attached, just makes the PEN-F go into USB connection mode, bringing up a dialog asking what USB mode you want to activate. A Waterbird cable half-works: it'll allow the Vello to activate focus, like a half-press of the shutter release, but it won't fully release the shutter. A Pixel CL-UC1 remote cable finally worked for me, making the Vello FreeWave work just like the Olympus, proving that it's the cable at fault, not the camera or my settings.
I could not get it to work on my Olympus M1 Mark11. It is well made, Vello gives great support and it would be a nice addison for most other cameras.
Works perfectly with my Pixel TW-283 remote control and Olympus M10. I got the Pixel with the Sony cable option. I was happy that I was able to find this cable, it saved me having to buy another remote control just to use with my Olympus. Now with one remote, and the two cables I can use it with either camera.
Bought this cable to be able to use my Vello FreeWave Plus with my new Olympus PEN-F camera. Works perfectly and exactly as expected.
I started off with a cheap knockoff cable instead of this one. It ended up only activating the AF and not being able to fire the shutter... so I sent it back and ordered the official Vello Olympus E-M10 II cable, which works perfectly. It's maybe a bit overpriced for a cable (I can buy a whole wired release for quite a bit cheaper) but it does its job and seems built well so I'd say it's worth it.
I previously gave this one star, saying it didn't work with a M5ii. But after working with their tech support, they sent me a new one that works perfectly. They have great support and stayed with me until the problem was resolved. A long way to go for a simple cable. Kudos to Vello and their support team!
Another review says Not for PEN-F. I have the same problem. When I plug the cable into the camera, I get the USB menu, and none of the options are satisfactory. I believe the wrong pins are jumper'd in the cable's connector. Yet some of the reviews are positive. May be a firmware version thing.
