Celestron 71361 overview

  • 1Description

Celestron's 8x40 LandScout Binocular combines a porro prism optical path with 40mm objective lenses and anti-reflection fully multicoated optics to produce views with a sharp depth of view that are bright and clear. The binocular's 65.6° apparent angle of view provides an immersive wide-angle field of view while providing a comfortable magnification that reduces noticeable image-shake on land and visual disorientation on the water.

To reduce the overall weight, and to make it easy to use during long observation sessions, the chassis is made of a lightweight and durable aluminum alloy with rubberized armoring that protects against bumps and impacts. Made for use in all weather, the housing is nitrogen-filled to be water and fogproof. This is critical when the binocular is being used in areas with wide temperature fluctuations which can affect the performance. On the trail, in the woods, at the park or stadium, the LandScout binocular is ideal for almost any activity.

    Celestron 71361 reviews

8x40 LandScout Binocular is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Low cost with good reviews When my Bushnell H2O porro 8x42 lost collimation and double vision made them useless, I had to get a new set.I use binoculars to help identify objects and scout surrounding country side during my off road trips and feel that a low cost unit is good enough for my needs. So, these were low price. My impression, compared to the Bushnell, is that these are noticeably shorter and lighter.Main focus wheel and diopter focus mechanism feel smooth and with just the right amount of firmness. The diopter focus ring has two projecting segments which make turning the ring for adjustment very easy. The eye cups twist up nice and secure but because they are made out of hard rubber and have notches around the circumference they can be less comfortable when held close and touching the face in the eye siockets than the Bushnells, which have eye cups from soft rubber and can be comfortably pressed against the face. So,it can be a bit uncomfortable on the face with the hard eye cups with the notches around the edge and I wish a softer rubber was used with a smooth outer edge to eliminate this annoyance.Vision quality is good, and surprisingly, the magnification is a bit more than with the Bushnells, although both have 8x specification. One more point, the pouch is pretty good.I would not buy these again for one reason only, the hard rubber eye cups with the notches around the edge which make the uncomfortable when pressed to the face.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 8x40 LandScout Binocular by Celestron Great binoculars at a great price. I wear glasses and these work great for me. Celestron has great customer service as well. The zipper in the case broke the first time I used it. They promptly shipped me a new one and I didn't even have to send back the broken case.
