The ETC Ion 1500 Lighting Console is a compact, easy-to-use DMX lighting board designed for the most flexible operation in venues where space is at a premium. While small in stature the Ion has the processing power to cope with a full array of moving lights, LED and conventional fixtures. Out of the box the Ion 1500 can manage as many as 1536 simple fixtures. As your needs grow and depending on the space available, you can connect a maximum of six additional fader wings to the base unit by either attaching to internal side USB ports or via cables from the five multi-purpose USB ports in the rear panel. These ports also enable the use of external devices such as printers, hard drives, pointing devices, keyboards and flash drives. As many as 300 additional submasters can be added to the base module this way.

The DVI video connector with splitter supports two high resolution DVI monitors or for greater control, two touchscreen DVI monitors for the best visual control of all active fixtures. A generous control keypad provides access to all command line functions, and includes a grand master, a black-out button and master split fader for transition between scenes. The four pageable encoders are used for input of command line functions and patching lighting fixtures and dimmers. The LCD display below shows the encoders current function.

The board can be operated manually or in a pre-programmed automated mode. Effects can be created live so they take effect immediately on stage or "blind" (while the performance is on but not showing until commanded). All effects, fade time edits, and steps may be edited on the fly and new lighting cues are easily inserted if needed.

The Ion 1536 board can form part of a larger linked system with other ETC boards and remote processors and will assume all their capabilities, enabling synchronized back-up. With on-board RDM capability the user is able to see the status and health of all RDM-enabled components connected by DMX. If your Sensor rack is experiencing a short an alert will be issued that appears on the board.
