question

Greetings, just received a new Bolt VS-570N, I'm noticing there are options for additional power supplies, PC sync and Firmware upgrade. Where does one get a cable for such or are there three different cables. Thanks... Kevin
Asked by: Kevin T.
There are 3 different cable connections for 3 different purposes. The power supply allows you to connect a battery pack, allowing you to shoot for longer periods of time without running out of battery, and also gives you a faster recycling time from one shot to another. Check out this battery pack as an example: B&H # BOPP310. The PC sync cord connects from the camera to the flash, (assuming your camera has a PC sync) allowing you to take the flash off the camera. Here is a cable from Impact: B&H # IMPCMPCM6 If your camera does not have a PC sync, you can purchase a flash cable from Vello that allows you to do the same thing. B&H # VEOCSN3Finally, the Firmware upgrade is a USB cable that allows you to connect the flash to the computer for firmware updates that Bolt releases.

question

The f stop always shows on the VS-570N and I shoot manual from the camera and manual from the flash using Vello trigger system and the the f stop on the flash never goes away, does the f8 on the flash affect the flash out come?
Asked by: Ron
The f/stop displayed on the flash is normal and does not have anything to do with the output as long as you have the flash set to manual not TTL.

question

Will this flash work with the Pocket Wizard Flex TT5 units for Nikon and let you use both the TTL and manual features on the flash unit and the TT5?
Asked by: Jeffrey D. H.
Yes, the Bolt VS-570N Wireless TTL Flash for Nikon Cameras should be compatible for use with the PocketWizard FlexTT5. If you wish to set the flash power manually, you would set the output power on the flash itself. If you wish to use i-TTL, you would leave the flash set to i-TTL, and the FlexTT5 would control the flash's output power automatically.
