Axis Communications F41 overview

  • 1Description

Axis Communications' F41 Main Unit is designed to work with their F Series sensor units as a discreet surveillance solution such as at ATMs, controlled access points, or in fleet or emergency vehicles. The F41 main unit supports the Axis F1005-E, Axis 1015, Axis 1025, and Axis F1035-E sensor units that are available in two cable lengths: 10' or 39' for flexible installation.

Furthermore, the F41 is able to capture video in up to 1080p HD resolution at a frame rate of 60 fps with a single media stream, or at 30 fps with dual streams when using H.264 compression. Multiple imaging technologies provide enhanced image quality and clarity in all lighting conditions, especially in low light or with extremes of bright and dark in the same shot.

Multiple user-configured events trigger a variety of alarms to maximize security. A terminal block for external devices such as PIRs, door/window contacts, sirens and relays provides for additional layers of coverage, and allows the F41 to be integrated into alarm/fire panels to expand their capabilities and provide central station monitoring. When connected to the Internet, files can be saved to a remote NAS or monitoring computer. If not, files are saved to an on-board SD card, with cards up to 64GB supported.

The ONVIF-compliant VMS enables third-party applications and video analytics to be used for car/pedestrian counting, facial/license plate recognition, and tracking. Audio-in and -out terminals allow external microphones and speakers to be wired directly to the F41 for one- or two-way communication, integration into a PA system, for broadcasting audio files at predetermined times - such as a closing notification, or when an action rule has been tripped to alert intruders that authorities have been notified.

F Series Sensor Compatibility
The Axis F41 main unit is compatible with the following Axis F Series sensor units with cable lengths available in a 10' or 39'.

  • AXIS F1005-E: for indoor and outdoor use; IP66 dust and water-resistant; 1080p video resolution, 113° wide-angle view, fixed 2.8mm lens
  • AXIS F1015: for indoor use; 3 to 6mm varifocal lens, 53 to 108° views, 1080p video resolution
  • AXIS F1025: for indoor use; 3.7mm fixed pinhole lens, 1080p video resolution, 92° wide-angle view
  • AXIS F1035-E: for indoor or outdoor use; IP66 dust and water-resistant, 1080p video resolution, 1.3 mm, f/2.8 fisheye lens, ultra-wide 194° field of view
Hardware
  • RS232 Connector: 5-pin terminal block for serial interface used to control auxiliary equipment
  • RJ12 Connector: For connecting the sensor unit to the main unit
  • SD card slot, supports up to 64GB cards
Software
  • Configure the Live View Page to user preferences or requirements
  • Mirror and/or Rotate image: Adjust the image orientation for easier viewing
  • Stream Profile: Predefine stream settings including resolution, compression, frame rate and overlay settings
  • Image Appearance: Color level, Brightness, Sharpness, Contrast, Local Contrast (a specific area in field of view that requires special settings)
  • Supports third-party applications such as video analytics and intelligent video capabilities such as facial/license plate recognition, tracking, detection, and counting
Imaging
  • Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) - Forensic Capture: Enables enhanced detail to make subjects visible in both bright and dark areas of a scene
  • White Balance: Used to make colors in the image appear the same regardless of the color temperature of the light source
  • Backlight compensation: Adjusts when a bright spot of light, like a light bulb, causes other areas in the image to appear too dark
  • Exposure zones: Determines which part of the image is used to calculate the exposure
  • Shutter and Gain: Automatically adjusts to minimize the amount of motion blur and noise in the image
  • Privacy Mask: Block sensitive areas from recording and live-view to protect privacy, such as ATM keypads
Events
  • Camera Tampering: Detects when the camera is moved, defocused, or covered and triggers an Event
  • Video Motion Detection: Adjustable sensitivity from 5 to 95, with Include windows and Exclude windows
  • Audio Detection: With an external microphone connected, will trigger an Event
  • Third party Application: If video analytics are running, these applications can trigger and Event
  • External devices: If devices such as PIRs, door/window contacts, smoke/fire detectors, or glass-break sensors are connected, they can trigger an Event when tripped
  • Lost/restored network connection
  • Scheduled events: Recording can begin/end at user defined periods, or other events like motion detection will only be active at certain days/time
  • Manual Trigger: Users can trigger an Event through the Live View window
Actions
  • Video: Record a video file of a predetermined length
  • Snapshot: Take a snapshot of the Event
  • Text Overlays: Used to provide extra information, such as the date and time, or a text string
  • Audio clip: Automatically play an audio clip such as a pre-recorded warning
  • Output to external devices such as a siren, activate lights, lock/unlock doors, or trip other relays
  • Automatically send email notifications with video/audio/snapshot attachments
  • Record files to on-board memory card or to remote NAS/monitoring computer when connected to Internet
Audio
  • Audio-in: 3.5mm jack for a mono microphone, or a line-in mono signal
  • Audio out: 3.5mm jack for audio (line level) that can be connected to a PA or an speaker with a built-in amplifier
  • Half-duplex: Two-way audio can be transmitted, but only in one direction at a time using the Talk and Listen buttons
  • Simplex (from camera): One-way audio from the camera's microphone only
  • Simplex (from F41): One-way audio to camera speaker
  • Full duplex: Simultaneous two-way audio
Alarm In/Out
  • Digital input: Connect external devices such as tampering sensors, PIRs, door/window contacts, smoke/fire detectors, etc
  • Digital output: Connect external devices such as sirens, relays, and LEDs
  • Use Input to wire from an alarm panel output to trigger an action rule when panel alarm is tripped
  • Use Output to wire to an alarm panel input to trigger an alarm at the panel when an Event occurs
