DECIMATOR DD-HX Overview

Combining capabilities usually reserved for a computer controlled converter the DECIMATOR MD-HX Miniature HDMI/SDI Cross Converter with Scaling & Frame Rate Conversion is a small independent device that features the same proven cross converter found in DECIMATOR's larger MD-DUCC. The MD-HX features both an HDMI and a 3G-SDI input, and can cross convert either signal to the other. It features a built-in scaler and frame rate converter as well, allowing you to convert the input signal to your required output standard.

The MD-HX features one HDMI output and two pairs of 3G-SDI outputs, controllable via fourteen selectable conversion modes, providing you with a variety of modes to fit your needs. This converter does not require a computer or DIP switches to control as it incorporates a small LCD screen for menu functions, and four buttons for control. It comes with a power supply with locking power cable to prevent accidental power loss during use.

Note:
Firmware Release 2.0.6 adds 3G-SDI Level B support for 1080p60/59.94/50 for this model, as well as the ability to set the SDI output to 3G level A or B and convert between A and B. It also enables horizontal and vertical image flipping via the built-in scaler.

HDMI to SDI / SDI to HDMI
The HDMI or SDI input can be scaled and/or frame rate converted to the required standard.
Four SD/HD/3G-SDI outputs allow the converter to be used as a 1 to 4 distribution amplifier. SDI output pair 1 can either be a copy of the SDI input (default) or the same as pair 2.
The MD-HX incorporates an LCD and button control system. This gives you access to features that have usually require a computer. Adjusting DIP switches or having access to a computer to change a simple setting are no needed with the MD-HX.
The audio pairs in the SDI and HDMI outputs can be rearranged as required.
The unit incorporates a USB port for control and firmware updates.

I've worked hundreds of shows with Decimators and have never had a device or tool more valuable in a pinch. It's the perfect swiss army knife to make sure signals are scaled and formatted correctly for your system - I carry two in my kit to every show I work and they have saved me too many times to count. Every video professional and event venue needs these!

Solved my flickering video problem

At my church, we have a computer running MediaShout and outputting HDMI to our video switcher for broadcast live stream. The stream gets converted from HDMI to SDI in order to connect to our BlackMagic Design Video Switcher. We had been using a cheap $60 converter but had problems with video flickering whenever it included a picture or video. We replaced the converter with a Decimator and it solved the problem. Going through its scaler handled any problem we could throw at it. No more flickering video. This product works.

The product works exactly as expected and is very easy to operate. The build quality is excellent, and I love that the power cord and HDMI cable are red to match the sexy design of the device. I couldn't be more satisfied and have no complaints whatsoever.

Yes. It will concert to any standard. Just set the scaler resolution and set your output to SCALER.

On occasion, the DECIMATOR needs to be powered by a battery. With the IndiPRO Tools D-Tap to DECIMATOR 2.5mm DC Barrel Cable B&H # INPTDECM, you can use the Core SWX Hypercore Slim V-Mount Battery B&H # COHCS98S for instance by plugging into the batteries D-tap.

I am trying to connect my computer to the Atem 4k ...

I am trying to connect my computer to the Atem 4k production studio to show slides. Is this device capable to convert a computer signal from HDMI to video signal so Atem will understand/see it? Right now we are getting a computer signal via Ethernet connection and it is captured into main computer with Tripp Lite HDMI over Cat5 extender.

The MD-HX is only going to accept SMPTE formats. Unfortunately, this will not work. However, I would check out the DECIMATOR 12G-CROSS 4K HDMI/SDI Cross Converter.

Yes, this is a frame rate converter that should allow you to change a video signal from 1080p60 to 1080i50.
