DECIMATOR DD-4S Overview

Packing four independent SDI to HDMI converters into a small field friendly package the DECIMATOR DMON-4S 4 x SD/HD/3G-SDI to HDMI Converter with Quad Multi-Viewer Function allows you to convert four separate SDI streams to either four independent mini HDMI outputs, or combine the SDI inputs into a Quad-Split HDMI output. The unit supports SD/HD/3G-SDI formats featuring automatic signal detection, and the built-in LCD info screen and button controls allow you to set your output options without resorting to DIP switch settings or connecting the unit to a computer.

You can set the converter to convert four SDI inputs to four HDMI outputs, combine the four SDI inputs into a Quad-Split HDMI output on one or all four of the HDMI outputs. You can also set the unit to convert two SDI inputs to HDMI, and use the other two SDI inputs as loop through outputs. When in Quad-Split mode, you can assign the audio from any input to be used as the audio for every output. The threaded locking power socket helps prevent accidental power loss from kickouts.

Firmware Updates
Firmware Release 2.0.8 Adds customizable 8-Channel Audio Metering for each window in Multi-Viewer Mode

Firmware Release 2.0.6 adds 3G-SDI Level B support for 1080p60/59.94/50 for this model, as well as horizontal and vertical image flipping per window, custom UMDs, and custom layout features that move it from a fixed window quad-split to a customizable 1-to-4 channel multi-viewer.
Features
Four independent mini HDMI outputs can each output any of the four (3G/HD/SD)-SDI inputs or a Quad-Split of all them. Four independent SDI to HDMI converters provide you with the following selections:
  • Four SDI inputs to four HDMI outputs
  • Four SDI inputs to Quad-Split HDMI outputs
  • Two SDI inputs to two mini HDMI outputs, and two SDI loop through outputs
  • A single SDI or Quad-Split to four HDMI outputs
In Quad-Split mode you can select the audio from any input to play as the audio for any of the outputs.
The LCD and button control system incorporated in the unit allows you access to all of the unit's features without using dip switches or having to carry around a computer to change a simple setting.

Unbelievably good product. Can be used in so many different ways, not just as a multi-viewer, although it excels at that too. Very very cool. My only complaint, and it's not really a complaint, is that there isn't a GUI for creating new custom layouts. It's not difficult to create them, but you have to type in numbers. Just inconvenient. Oh yeah, and not very good documentation for the computer control software.

I first got the BMD Multiviewer 4 and it did the job but the picture edges were being obscured by the LCD bezel. Then I got this little wonder! This would let me reduce the incoming picture area so that I can see the full picture from all cameras. Then I can reroute the inputs, rename the windows, change colors of border, text, background and so much more! Unbelievable set of customization pages for the same price as the BMD. Use your computer to customize. I can resize the picture in 1% increments. Takes a while to calculate the numbers that will utilize the maximum area of my monitor but once done it is a pleasure to use this. See picture of my settings for an Acer 22 LCD.

Is it possible to take one HDMI input and output ...

Is it possible to take one HDMI input and output 1 pass-through HDMI output and one vertically flipped HDMI output?
Asked by: Chad
Hi Chad, This is Jules from product support at Symbiosis, Decimator's master distributor for your region. The DMON-4S will allow you to route one SDI input to both an HDMI output in its original format and a separate HDMI output flipped vertically and/or horizontally. However, please be aware that the DMON-4S does not have an HDMI input so you would need to convert your HDMI signal to SDI first, I would recommend using either an 12G-Cross if your source is a computer or an MD-LX if your HDMI source is a piece of SMPTE compliant video equipment. I hope this helps but fi you have any further questions please feel free to contact us on su[email protected]. Best Wishes Jules

Is it possible to use the loop out and multi view ...

Is it possible to use the loop out and multi view at the same time? My setup is that I will have 2 SDI inputs from my PTZOptics cams, loop those out to my BMD Mini Recorders, but I want to be able to monitor both of those feeds on the same screen. I'm also wondering what the output resolution of this device is? Is it dependent on the inputs? Right now I'm having an issue where my PTZOptics cams have to be set to 1080p30 as that's the max my BMD Mini Recorders will support. The cams can output HDMI and SDI simultaneously, so I thought I'd just plug the HDMI feed into one of my monitors, but my monitors apparently don't support 1080p30, they throw an error asking for 60Hz. Any feedback / suggestions is appreciated.
Asked by: Taylor
Hi Taylor, This is Jules from Product Support at Symbiosis, Decimator's master distributor for your region. You can configure a DMON-4S to receive SDI on inputs 1 & 3 then use the ports for inputs 2 & 4 as loop outputs of inputs 1 & 3 respectively. Inputs 1 & 3 are still available to use in the multi-viewer, although obviously you then only have two inputs available for up to four windows, depending on how many windows you wish to show on screen. The four HDMI outputs can be individually controlled so each output can be configured to either be the output of the multi-viewer or a loop output of any of the SDI inputs. If you need a hand configuring it when it arrives please feel free to contact us at [email protected]. I hope this helps. Kind regards Jules
