A long-reaching telephoto zoom characterized by a sophisticated optical design and advanced image stabilization technologies, the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM Lens is part of the esteemed L-series developed for full-frame EOS DSLRs. One fluorite element and one Super UD element have been incorporated into the lens' construction, and both help to reduce aberrations and distortions throughout the zoom range in order to deliver notable clarity, image sharpness, and faithful color reproduction. An Air Sphere Coating has also been applied to lens elements in order to reduce lens flare and ghosting for more contrast-rich imagery. Benefitting the optical components of the lens, a four-stop effective Image Stabilizer helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake and can be dedicated to different styles of shooting. Furthermore, a redeveloped rotation-type zoom ring pairs with an internal focusing mechanism, and an Ultrasonic Motor, to deliver quick and intuitive handling to benefit handheld shooting. Positioned as a versatile option for sports and wildlife photographers, this lens' list of attributes make it a viable telephoto zoom for a variety of shooting applications.
Housed within a weather-resistant barrel, this lens also features fluorine coatings on the front and rear elements for protection against fingerprints and smudges from affecting image quality. Zoom control is complemented by a dedicated tension ring for adjusting zoom torque. Additionally, other refined design elements include a tripod collar that can be attached or detached with the lens mounted to the camera and an included lens hood that permits easy control over specialty filters with the hood in place.

Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM Reviews
Tack sharp combined with my R5. Fast focus too!
Excellent wildlife lens. Fast focus! Tack sharp images and great color.
Great Lens
Purchased this lens for outdoor sports and wildlife. Lens is performing beautifully! Using with a 90D body. Also using the battery grip with the vertical shutter release.
Outstanding
This lens is absolutely phenomenal for wildlife photography, and I have taken some epic shots of the moon. B&H is my go-to for all my gear, as shipping is always lightning fast and packaged securely. I am highly satisfied with my purchase, as always.
Canon EF 100-400 V II for GFX
I have just started to use this lens for the GFX. It does vignette some starting around 250mm. I got this lens to replace the Fuji FX 100-400. Part of the idea is to have just one system. this lens focuses to about 30 from the front of the lens. It becomes a quasi macro lens. It also acts a little like a 70-200mm FF. So the plan is to use it for wildlife with the 1.4 extender, and people and subjects like flowers. I use it with the Finger adapter with f stops and the GFX 100S. It weighs about 250 grams more than the fuji GF 100-200mm, but can do more than the 100-200. this is more of a plan than a review. So far it seems working.
Better than the original
A lot better than the original, almost as sharp as my 500mm f4. I use it as my hiking lens, easy to carry and still get some great sharp photos. The original 100-400 was not always sharp for me so I appreciate more keepers.
Easy purchase. Quality lense
Service was as expected, excellent. The lens is fantastic and is as great as advertised. I would recommend both B&H and canon for all my photo needs
Great for graduation, Indoor
Thought it would be a little slow but performed well enough even under stage lightings at my son's graduation Baccalaureate ceremony held in an auditorium. Love it!
Recent Lens Purchase
An A+ experience from the start with the purchase of this excellent Canon 100-400mm lens. I have wanted the latest version of this lens for a few years and it is everything I was hoping for! I shoot mostly wildlife photography and am enjoying the sharpness, range and color rendition produced by this lens.
