I bought this specifically for the iOptron Sky Tracker. It seems very well made- the knobs are firm and everything tightens down the way you would expect

Very High Quality!

When you lock this mount down, it stays secure. The mounting plate above the ball gives you options. The ball head can be used with a tracker in more than one configuration. The locking knobs are big and very sturdy. A good purchase.

Good Quality Ball Head

Good quality build with large ergonomic knobs. Good match of course for the StarTraker Pro mount. I originally used a SmallRig head with the SkyTracker, but the paddle style knobs interfered with the mount. This head eliminates that issue.

IMHO - a must have accessory for the iOptron SkyGuider

I recently purchased the iOptron SkyGuider astral tracker and really wasnt sure if Id need this or not...so I bought it just in case.  Im so glad I did.  Not only is some kind of camera mount a must-have with that tracker mount, but this ball head really rocks.  Ive always been leery of ball head mounts, considering them way less rugged than the old school three-plane mount Ive used for years... I couldnt believe it, but this compact ball head mount kept my full frame nikon body and a nikon 200-500MM zoom lens rock steady for 3+ hours on an astral tracker mount.  Im talking a camera/lens combo that weighs just about 10 lbs!     If you need a very compact, very robust mount...just get this one.  You wont be sorry!

Good, beefy ball head but I don’t like that you have to tighten two knobs, instead of just one.

Use with a star tracker

If you are doing photography with a star tracker, this ball head is designed for that purpose. You can also use it on a standard tripod. It is a hefty design, so it works well with cameras with long lenses.

Will this ball head fit a telescope vixen dovetail?

Yes, I believe it will. But, check first. The Vixen is fairly narrow. The Losmandy, for example , is not. My 2 cents.

Where is the second bubble level? I can't tell if it's on the adjustment knob, like others I've seen.
Asked by: Scot
The 2nd bubble is not pictured but it is on the knob for the vertical/horizontal control.
