Yongnuo RF-603C II Reviews

Simple to use and works well

I've used these triggers for a while now (including the previous model, which had a stupidly-placed on/off switch - the new ones are much better), and they've been great. While not offering ETTL metering or the ability to dial in the flash intensity, it's rarely been a problem, as I typically run the speedlights in manual mode and adjust the output manually. I have two pairs of these, for a total of four units, and this works perfectly for team photos as I have one on the camera, one for each of my two speedlights, and one in my hand as a remote shutter button. Hard to go wrong with these, until you're ready to move up to ETTL remote triggers.

Simple, Cheap, Foolproof

A simple, cheap, and foolproof way for anyone wanting to enter the (often intimidating) world of off-camera lighting without having to strap a GameBoy-sized gizmo to their hot shoe. I've had these now for over 2 years, shooting once or twice a week, and I've yet to replace the batteries or have a strobe fail to fire. For anyone curious if these will work with SONY bodies, the answer is yes and no. YES they will fire an external flash; NO they will not work as a remote trigger (no 3-pin connector on the SONY).

Low cost, great performance

After years of only shooting with a flash mounted on the camera - and often being frustrated by the technical and creative limitations of not having the option to move it off camera - I finally decided I needed a wireless option and found these Yongnuo flash triggers were available, for a very good price. Super easy to use, just flick the (tiny) switches in the battery compartment to the same channel and they're ready to go. After four months of use, they have not let me down once. The flash fires every time and I doubt most people would ever reach the limits of the range in normal shooting - works great even from several rooms away. And plugging in the included cable turns it into a remote shutter release which is quite handy. It's great to have the camera on a tripod and have the flash in your hand and move it around freely while taking shots to quickly get lots of different lighting looks. The shutter release feature can also be used with no flashes involved. All in all, an essential accessory if you have a flash unit and are wanting to get it off the camera body without spending tons of cash. I have not encountered any problems with it yet and will probably be buying another pair in the future so multiple flashes can be added to the mix.

Stopped working in the middle of a shoot

Ordered in April 2020, died in the middle of a shoot June 2020, the first time I tried to use them for a shoot after doing some perfunctory testing beforehand. Was using them as a remote shutter release when one of the radios lost contact for no apparent reason. Replaced the batteries, changed channels, etc., nada. Fortunately I always carry an alternative but disappointed because I can no longer return them. I'll get over it as they are cheap, in every sense of the word, but I would warn people not to rely on these.

Great connection for camera to flash

Simple, reliable, versatile and they use AAA batteries. Each trigger can be used as a transmitter or a receiver. Easy switch for on/off, transmit or receive and a four pin switch in the battery compartment to select frequency. Incredibly reliable as I use four triggers for capturing images of hummingbirds.

I have 5 of these little guys and I love how small and simple they are to use. Only one has died in about 6 years. I use them as both flash triggers and shuttter releases. Very simple to change the channels and switch between transmitter and transceiver mode. I also love that they work seamlessly with Yongnuo flashes without needing another trigger mounted to the flash. I love these things

question

I'm looking for a unit(s) that will fire my strobes wirelessly as well as my shutter release wirelessly for a Canon 60D?
Asked by: Michael
This wireless system cannot do both at the same time. So you will need two kits. The camera will have two units attached to it. The one on the shoe is set to be a transmitter and other is set as a receiver and attached to the camera via the camera cord. Each is set to a different frequency. The one on the hotshoe is set the same as the one on the flash. And the other one on the camera is set to the same frequency as the one you hold.It also depends on the specific camera as well. If you want further information about this it is best you contact us directly in chat or over the phones.

Canon 50D with YN560 tx ii and YN 603c ii. Cannot get it to fire my 580ex. Is it compatible? What am I missing? works fine with YN600 flash
Asked by: Bernie
I found the problem! the YN560 tx has function modes that are not easily understandable on the screen. One is to select either 602 or 603 triggers. obviously mine was set on 602. switched to 603 and everything is fine. Now I wish I could decode the other functions. I thank all of you for your time
