Linksys LGS318P overview

  • 1Description

With 16 Power over Ethernet enabled ports, the LGS318P 18-Port Smart Gigabit PoE+ Gigabit Switch from Linksys helps to eliminate the need to run an additional power supply to your network components. The "plus" gives you roughly double the power per port while remaining backwards compatible with the traditional 802.1af PoE networking standard. In addition to Power over Ethernet functionality, this network switch features 18 Gigabit Ethernet ports along with a forwarding rate of 26.79 Mpps, a switching capacity of 36 Gbps, an 8K MAC address table, and 9K Jumbo Frame support.

Quality of Service (QoS)
Numerous QoS features ensure that traffic is prioritized properly to deliver the best possible user experience for real-time applications like voice and video along with bandwidth-intensive graphic/video file uploads and downloads. IGMP snooping limits IP multicast traffic to the ports that requested it, enabling the rest of the network to operate at peak efficiency.
Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+)
Linksys smart switches support the latest 802.3at (PoE+) standards and provide up to double the power budget per Gigabit Ethernet port while offering 802.3af (PoE) backward-compatibility. Power over Ethernet reduces electrical wiring costs, simplifies installation, and supports network devices such as IP cameras and wireless access points in optimal indoor and outdoor locations.
Network Security
Unauthorized access to the network and mission-critical data is a constant concern. Linksys smart switches help secure networks through port authentication and MAC-based port security, requiring clients to authenticate themselves before any data is passed. Advanced DHCP snooping and IP-MAC binding functions ensure network integrity and help prevent network attacks.
Network Expansion
Linksys smart switches include features for quickly expanding and growing your network. Multiple high-bandwidth trunks between switches enhance availability and redundancy. Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) and Storm Control features help control planned or inadvertent cable loops.

    Linksys LGS318P reviews

    LGS318P 18-Port Smart Gigabit PoE+ Switch is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good switch but lacking total power available It's sort of strange, they give you 16 ports POE+ which can take up to 30watts but only give 125w total, which means if you're running full POE+, you can only have 4 devices... so defeats the point of 16 ports POE+.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect gigabit PoE switch Used for a high end network camera installation, with cameras streaming 1080p continuously. Chose this switch based on gigabit speeds, solid switching capacity and buffers, and an abundance of PoE power (not cutting it close on PoE budget if more cameras were added). Didn't take advantage of any of the management features, as it wasn't needed. Plug and play, and it is performing flawlessly. Fan is rather loud, and runs continuously, so be aware - not something you want on your desk. Would definitely use again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poe not working DOE Purchased from B & H around the first of the year for a job that got postponed till this weekend. Switch works no Poe The worst part about this defective switch is the abuse linksys support gives you. Spent hours on a chat, two phone calls over 20 minutes each. Still no resolve. If you buy this switch pray it works. I don't have time for this I'm turning Case number over to company lost & recovery department.
