The perfect filter holder

These caps provide an easy way carry multiple filters in a protective case without a lot of bulk. It's easy to fit these in your pocket or camera bag. There's no limit to the number of filters you can fit between the caps, so long as the filters have threads front and back. I usually put the filter stack caps in a soft pouch to protect other gear in my camera bag from scratches or wear. The only way to improve on these aluminum caps would be to make them out of brass with brass threads to make it easier to spin them off of the filters. But that would drive the cost up considerably, so these caps are a good compromise.

Creates lens cap for 82mm xume filter users

if you use the xume filter rings you know that you can't get a 82mm lens cap for your lens. With the stack cap you can use it with a xume filter holder to create one.

More than one use ...

I use Sensei screw in caps on all my lenses (77mm).  I recently purchased a Sigma 24-36mm f2 lens which has 82mm filter threads.  B and H doesnt carry and/or Sensei doesnt market an 82mm screw in filter cap.  Not to be deterred, I purchased the 82mm filter stack caps, I use the male side as a screw in lens cap on my Sigma lens and the female side collects dust.

Well Made

I filled in a couple of sizes I needed and now have the full range of what I need, from 49mm to 95mm. I tried another brand - once - and I now stick with the Sensei brand. The threads have always been accurate and filters don't jamb the way they did with the other brand.

Excellent low-profile lens filter storage solution

I had been looking for a better way to store me 82mm lens filters for some time and these certainly have fit the bill. While some lens filters come in nice cases, many (even from the expensive brands) come in cheap, flimsy plastic cases. Not only will these stack caps allow you to get rid of those cheap plastic cases, but they will also give you a lower-profile storage solution and a storage solution that just leaves you knowing your lens filters are safe and secure in your bag or pocket.

Protects your filters really well.

I have used stack caps for about forty years. The screw on caps are not as fast as carrying a naked filter, but the glass is totally protected. These metal caps are rugged enough that you can throw your stack of filters in your hip pocket and sit on them without scratching or breaking the glass. The threads are smooth and don't bind. The brass rings on my B&W filters eliminates the need for filter wrenches. If you use filters with aluminum rings you need to carry filter wrenches anyway.

Well-made product

I bought these caps in both 77mm and 82mm sizes. They are heavy duty machined aluminum with a black anodized finish and about the most compact possible method of storing like-sized filters. The caps and two filters fit in the same space one filter in a factory-supplied plastic box would occupy. Additional filters added to the stack will, of course, add to the thickness. As another reviewer mentioned, the male threaded cap can double as a near-bulletproof lens cap too. The only down side I can think of is that filters must be unscrewed / re-screwed on both sides when removed from or replaced in the stack - a lot more time consuming than just popping open a box for removal and return.

question

How will this screw into the tiffen variable ND filter as the filter has no front screw thread?
Asked by: Tony
If your filter has no screw threads obviously it will not be useable with that filter.

question

Can this be used with an 82 mm Tiffen variable ND which does not have a front screw thread?
Asked by: Tony
Anton-Reno has correct answer. I actually use a push on cap for a filter that has no front threads; it does need to be snug enough to stay on. (Perhaps it came with your filter?) Obviously, you cannot stack any other filters in front of your variable ND. This product works well; I have several sizes.
