General Brand 67UVP overview

  • 1Description

The Tiffen 67mm UV Protector Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. This filter is especially useful when photographing at high altitudes or around bodies of water. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting to precision metal rings.

Absorbs some ultraviolet light and reduces bluish cast of daylight.
Clear filter provides no additional coloration or contrast, allowing you to pair this filter with others.
General protection filter reduces dust, moisture, and scratches from reaching lens elements.

67mm UV Protector Filter is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 414.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from All you need for a fraction of the price I always by UV filters for my lenses to protect them from being scratched or damaged. This has saved me hundreds of dollars over the years. That being said, I wanted the same protection with the benefit of UV without paying a ton. Unless you're a professional, I doubt you'll notice a huge difference in the performance of the UV filter. Even if you are a professional, the difference is likely minimal in comparison to the price. I used this filter on a new telephoto lens in the extremely dusty environment of Africa with no problems. Filter cleaned easily and I noticed no scratches. Save your money for lenses, get this filter.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Makes Pictures Dull and Not Sharp Do NOT buy this filter. I used it on my Canon DSLR camera, not realizing that Canon also makes a UV Protector filter. Then I heard about the Canon version and I tried it( B&H item # CAUVP67) . The difference was HUGE. The Tiffen photos were dark, unsharp, and the colors were dull. The photos with the Canon filter were GREAT- very sharp, and bold colors more accurate to real life. I can't speak for other brands like Nikon or Sony, but do your research and compare because there IS a difference. Attached are 2 pictures comparing the difference. Same camera settings and lighting- just the filter was different.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big performance at a small price. I use this filter on my Tamron 17-50 and on my Canon 70-200 f4. I use it to prevent damage to my lenses. I have tried other affordable filters, but noticed a significant loss in performance. I cannot see any loss in performace with this filter. I have not been able to detect any flaring or noise that would not be there without the filter. It is made sturdy and has smooth threads. It also saved my Tamron lens from damage when I dropped it. It was dropped and the glass hit a rock. The filter cracked but did not break, and the lens was fine. If you need a quality filter at a budget price, this is the one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great UV lens filter /protector Let me say first off I usually buy only B+W filters so I was a little hesitant to purchase this brand. I had purchased a lens from B&H Photo and this was the filter that was recommended on the website. Knowing that B&H wouldn't try selling me and inferior product I decided to take a chance and buy it. I am so glad I did. It's just as well made as my B+W's but for about half cost. I highly recommend this product the same way B&H Photo recommended it. I will definitely buy more in the future, thanks B&H for the recommendation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great lens protector, Great price! I got the product to protect my lens from dust, scratches, and any other terrible catastrophes. It works great! The only complaint that I have is that occasionally there is a small, unnatural lens flare from the filter. It is only noticeable under certain circumstances, but it is slightly annoying (especially if you are shooting documentary or live action). Overall, it is a great filter. I would never have a lens without a filter. It's much cheaper to replace a broken filter, than a broken lens.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Inexpensive lens protection, but has ghost images This filter is great for protecting your lens from dirt and scratches and is cheap enough to be more or less expendable. I have one warning, though. It has no anti-glare coating. If you point it toward an intense source of light like a locomotive headlight, you get a ghost image of the light elsewhere in the picture. There are filters out there with coatings to protect against this, but they cost 3 or 4 times as much. If you are just shooting front-lit scenery shots or whatever, this is a bargain. Otherwise, pop for the extra money an anti-glare coating will cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Filter at low Price This filter doesn't necessary stop all reflection totally, but it helps a heck of a lot. I have used Tiffen for a few years, and they seem to make quality filters. This is a 67mm Filter, and it comes in a hard plastic case that is stackable with other Tiffen Filter Cases. This filter works like it should. Problems Encountered: It had a lot of particals on the filter, so you will need a lens pens, which you should already have. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great with the 18-135mm Canon Kit Lens! A UV Filter is always a great addition to any lens and despite having little effect on your images, it is a great protector of your lens element. Attach it, use the lens, attach your lens cap over the top of it and forget about it. I always try to get a UV filter for each of my lenses and Tiffen is an excellent well trusted brand which leaves little doubt this is a great purchase for any 67mm diameter lens (like the Canon 18-135mm)!
