Capture images and HD video beneath the surface with your Olympus PEN E-PL7 Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera, thanks to this Ikelite Underwater Housing with a 200' depth rating. The enclosure has built-in, proprietary circuitry and an Ikelite bulkhead strobe connector, allowing for TTL exposure with optional, external Ikelite DS Substrobes. Non-Ikelite strobes are compatible too, but they will afford manual exposure only. Mechanical controls give you access to virtually all camera functions, including all important ones.

The housing has an ergonomic design with a support tray and a quick-release grip handle, in order to offer better balance and provide an attachment point for an optional lighting arm. Built for durability, the housing is designed, made by hand, and tested in the USA. It's manufactured from corrosion-resistant polycarbonate, which is clear to allow you to monitor the o-ring seal and maintain a full view of the camera.

The housing is shipped without a required lens port and accepts one of several interchangeable ports for various zoom, macro, and wide-angle lenses from Olympus and Panasonic. For compatibility, see Port Chart.

Construction Details

  • Features a 200' depth rating
  • Designed, made by hand, and tested in the USA
  • Manufactured from durable, corrosion-resistant polycarbonate, which is clear to allow you to monitor the o-ring seal and maintain a full view of the camera
  • The camera's large, bright LCD screen is viewable edge-to-edge through the back of the housing
  • A built-in magnifying viewfinder includes special optics to provide a clear view of the camera's EVF, even when wearing a dive mask

Strobe Connection and Operation

  • Built-in, proprietary circuitry and an Ikelite bulkhead strobe connector, allowing for TTL exposure with optional, external Ikelite DS Substrobes
  • Non-Ikelite strobes are compatible too, but they will afford manual exposure only
  • Compatible DS strobes: DS50 (above serial number 70000), DS51, DS125 (above serial number 5000), DS160, DS161, and DS200 (above serial number 7163)
  • Strobes require single or dual TTL sync cords
  • Whether in TTL or manual mode, use of sync cord eliminates issues of signal interference, inconsistent exposure, and false triggering by stray light or another shooter's flash firing
  • Camera's built-in pop-up flash not usable and not necessary when using external strobes

Exposure Adjustment

  • Direct TTL communication does not require camera's flash to fire in order to trigger strobes or adjust their power
  • Provides numerous advantages over fiber-optic or LED-triggered systems, including more precise exposure, faster recycle times, quicker shutter response, and longer battery life, as well as elimination of false triggering

Controls and Handling

  • Mechanical controls, including knurled knobs, a dial, push-buttons, and a lever, give you access to virtually all camera functions, including all important ones
  • Controls are put right at your fingertips and have symbols laser-engraved onto them
  • Ergonomic design with an aluminum support tray and a quick-release grip handle, in order to offer better balance and provide an attachment point for an optional lighting arm
  • Handle is curved slightly to fit the natural curvature of your hand, and features a soft, molded rubber grip for comfort
  • Tray and handle are easily removed for storage and transport, or for substitution of the optional Tray with Dual Handles

Lens Port

  • Ships without a required lens port
  • Accepts one of several interchangeable ports for various zoom, macro, and wide-angle lenses from Olympus and Panasonic
  • For compatibility, see Port Chart linked above
  • Just press the port on and tighten three thumb screws to secure it

More Recommended Optional Accessories

  • Strobe, sync cord, and ball arm kits
  • 1" Ball Mount Mark II for attaching lighting arms to quick-release handles, and 1" Sliding Ball Mount Mark II for adding lightweight accessories to Ball Arm Mark II system
