cocktailaudio X12 reviews

X12 HD HiFi Music Server with Database/CD Ripper/Network Streamer is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent Player depending on your needs I bought this to use it as a component in a 25 year old low to mid range system and it did what I expected it to do and overall did it well. I like the fact that I can store up to 4 TB on the hard drive (which is bought separately). My 2 big complaints are that index of the contents appears very jumbled, probably based on different ways the files are named, a simple folder hierarchy option would be nice. Also the suggested phone/tablet apps are limited in function (but still usable). I'm sure it'd be decent as a standalone amp/player, but if you have any thoughts of purchasing a decent AV receiver with the capability to play off a hard drive via USB this unit would be redundant. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is going to be buying a new receiver with USB and at this price plus the price of the hard drive you can get a decent one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from unable to usefully comment so far: the product did not come with a wif fi dongle ( which I later learned was an optional extra) I need the wifi functionality for Cd ripping ( from the international CD database) and to connect a wifi speaker to the X12. So I cant test the CD playing function yet either. I have spend approx. 80 US $ on devices to create a wifi dongle but to no avail. So far then things have been frustrating. Regrettably I cant say little useful at his point in time about the device other than it is hard to connect to my wifi without the official dongle
