I got it on sale to use with the 16mm. Wish I had gotten the version 1 when it was on sale for an even cheaper price. Well built product and takes great photos. This is my first time using a fisheye adapter and I. Am pleased with the photos from this adapter. Great add on for the 16 mm lens.

Unless you're into cliches, this isn't a lens you'll use all the time. When you do want the fisheye look, though, you won't be sorry you've teamed this adaptor with your 16 or 20mm lens. The lens allows you to see in ways that are difficult imagine. If can let you seem to float in the void. It allows to peer over the edge of a precipice from a safe distance. It can make night sky photography look like you live on another planet. It takes bends in your photo and turns them into nearly full circles. The limited of this lens are set by only by the boundaries of your own creativity.

Practicle but not sharp

Bought this converter for the Sony 16mm for fisheye photography. While it does what it supposes to do, it will dramatically reduces the sharpness of the base lens and image quality. Plus, if you have a full frame camera, like in my case the A7R II, you have to switch to APC mode otherwise you'll have significant vignetting.

Fisheye lens is definitely a fun one to use. The downside is you need the wide angle lens first. The autofocus makes it a easier to use than using other manual focus third party lens. By itself it's pretty compact.

Can the shade over the front of the lens be ...

Can the shade over the front of the lens be removed? Or is there one without the shade. I have a shade ring to mount on the lens inside my underwater housing to prevent reflections from the flash. This cannot be applied with the shade on the front of the lens.

The shade is not removable. I'm not aware of a version without the shade.

Version two is different. It can be used on an SEL16F28 and a SEL20F28 lens. Version one works only on the SEL16F28 lens.

Yes, I believe it was specifically designed for the Sony 16 2.8 lens. I have had good luck with the converters on an aps-c camera like a6000
