Red Giant DENOISER-A Overview

The Red Giant Denoiser II Plug-In is an electronic download of a noise removal plug-in for select NLE and effects applications. This version is priced for academic institutions and not-for-profit organizations. The plug-in supports both Windows and Mac platforms, working with select versions of Apple Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro. Denoiser II was extensively rewritten from version 1, improving the plug-in's stability.

The plug-in removes noise from video, while preserving the fine detail of an image. It also utilizes high and low motion estimation, allowing it to remove noise from moving shots. Choose from two modes, film or video, to select the image characteristics used to reduce noise. The tool slider settings are keyframeable allowing you to animate the settings over the duration of the clip. The GPU checkbox allows you to switch from CPU rendering to GPU rendering when using a compatible graphic card.

Host Application Support
Denoiser II works as a plug-in for select versions of Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro and Apple's Final Cut Pro. Please check the specifications tab for a list of the supported software versions.
Presets
The default preset settings provide sufficient noise reduction for most purposes, however you can adjust individual settings to tweak the noise reduction to suit your footage. .
Motion Estimation
Denoiser II uses motion estimation in compare successive frames to decipher what is natural motion vs noise in the shot. Although high-speed camera movements present different noise reducing problems than slow pans, Denoiser II can preserve detail in both fast-moving action shots and slow pans and dollies.
Rewritten
Denoiser II was rewritten from version 1 of the plug-in, and now uses code exclusively developed by Red Giant. This allows Red Giant to update the plug-in, providing enhancements such as improved stability, integration with Final Cut Pro and Premiere Pro, GPU rendering and improved response to customer's needs.
Workflow Efficiency
Denoiser II can save you time in other areas of your project, as the noise reduction may also smooth out flaws in skin or overexposure.
Film & Video
Two modes let you characterize the noise so Denoiser II achieves the most accurate results. The video mode adjusts the Luma and Chroma channels to minimize noise. The Film mode provides adjustments for Red, Green and Blue channels.
Keyframeable
Slider controls are keyframeable, allowing you to animate your settings over the duration of the clip. Check box settings are not keyframeable and are either on or off for the entire clip.
GPU Rendering
Denoiser II now allows you to select GPU Rendering when you have an OpenCL 1.1 or higher compatible graphics card installed. The plug-in automatically checks for a compatible OpenCL graphics card and un-locks the GPU Render check box if one is found. GPU rendering can provide a speed improvement of 3 to 4 x over the default CPU rendering.

Note: Denoiser II features a GPU speed enhancement that is supported on systems with OpenCL 1.1 and higher. The "Use GPU" checkbox is turned on if Denoiser II v1.4 (or later) detects a suitable GPU. You may still use Denoiser II if this GPU checkbox is greyed out if your system meets the other necessary system requirements, but Denoiser II will render CPU only.
