The Z3TA+ 2 from Cakewalk is an updated virtual waveshaping synthesizer with extensive sound-shaping capabilities and thousands of sounds. With fourteen dual-stage filter types, a massive modulation matrix, highly flexible effects section, and sixteen waveshapers for each of its six oscillators, the sound design possibilities are limitless.

The instrument is fully capable of producing both authentic vintage analog sounds and cutting edge modern sounds. Whether it's lush, warm pads, slowly evolving atmospheres, searing leads or sparkling FM sounds, the software is capable of providing them all. All of the older Z3TA+ sounds have been retained.

Drag-and-drop routing for easy routing of all effects
Distortion module includes a new "Hypertube" algorithm and can affect the filter buses, the effects section, or both
Fourteen filters with both filter sections accessible and visible simultaneously with a separation control for tweaking resonance peaks on stacked filters
Waveshaping modes include:
  • Fold: Folds the entire waveform over itself by progressively swapping the left and right halves
  • Spectrum: Harmonic levels wander in alternating directions creating a complex phaser-like quality
  • Random All: Creates continuously random variations of all harmonic levels
  • Random Odd: Only odd harmonic levels are randomized, while even harmonics are progressively suppressed
  • All sixteen waveshapers are accessible via the modulation matrix, opening up a huge variety of sound-shaping possibilities
    Graphical LFOs show the resulting LFO shapes when morphing between two waves, and the amount fader quickly scales an LFO's intensity
    Graphical Arp provides visual display of one-hundred arpeggiator patterns, and fifty "Gate" patterns from Dance MIDI Samples
    Instantly apply trance gates to synthesizer pads and leads, and increase total arpeggiator flexibility and expression with humanize and swing controls
    Graphically controlled envelopes provide visual representation and real-time feedback of all envelope generators
    The sound engine has been improved with a "HIGHEST" SRC algorithm providing smoother, more accurate interpolation of wavetables (all the original Z3TA+ patches have been preserved)
    Performance module provides quick, hands-on control of the analog-simulating "Burst" and "Drift" parameters, as well as portamento and in-depth X/Y pad control
    Speed control for the X/Y pad adjusts the morphing speed of X/Y coordinates
    Adaptive pitch bend allows for the bending of notes within the performed key and mode, and automatically learns the key based on performance
