Barco 101-3004-08 overview

  • 1Description

The FR12 WUXGA Installation Projector from Barco includes the Zoom Lens and VizSim Color Wheel. Unlike traditional projector designs, the FR12 places the light source and color wheels in a separate housing from the projection unit. This means no noise or heat generation where the projector is placed, and makes it possible to mount the projector in "portrait" orientation or at other odd angles not normally possible. This model features a 33' (10 m) long light-guide cable.

Based on the same imaging system as the F12, this variant of the FR12 features a brightness of up to 1500 lumens (depending on settings), and has native WUXGA resolution and aspect 16:10 ratio. In addition, through internal scaling, the F12 can accommodate a wide range of formats from 480p SD all the way up to WUXGA (1920 x 1200).

The F12 features connectivity to accommodate a variety of sources. There are HDMI and DVI inputs for HDTV and digital computer sources. There is a VGA port for analog computer sources or for integration with existing A/V installations. Plus there are composite, component, and S-video inputs to cover most analog video sources, whether SD or HD.

EN08 Standard Projection Zoom Lens
The Standard Zoom Lens features a throw ratio of 1.60 to 2.00:1. It can be considered a "middle-of-the road" lens - not short throw and not long throw. Throw ratio is one of the most important specifications a projector lens has as it tells you the image size (width) you will get at a give distance from the screen.
Remote Light Source
The FR12 Remote Light Source (RLS) concept relocates the lamps and color wheels from the projector to a rack-mount enclosure that can be placed up to 32' (10 m) away from the projector head. Light from the RLS illuminates the imaging head via the Liquid Light Guide (LLG). The result is a compact, ruggedized, projector with silent operation and simple lamp maintenance. Since there's no lamp in the projection head, the FR12 is capable of installation without restriction on projector orientation, including portrait mode and other extreme projector angles.
The Right Color Wheel for Your Configuration
The FR12 is available with a range of color wheel options, including High Brightness, Graphics, or VizSim, each with specific characteristics. As the VizSim color wheel focuses on color quality, it lowers color cross-talk and contamination, and reduces artifacting. The Graphics version offers a lower saturation but higher brightness for general AV use, and the High Brightness option provides high-brightness while retaining accurate color reproduction. This particular projector features the VizSim color wheel.
RealColor for Multi-Channel Systems
Thanks to the color matching and calibration tools provided in the RealColor management suite, the FR12 allows you to calibrate and set up images for edge blending and multi-channel installations. As a custom option, manual optical color matching is also offered.
Simplified Maintenance
The main parts that typically require servicing - such as the lamp and DLP system - are placed in a rackmountable housing for ready access. The projection unit itself does not use any parts that normally require servicing, meaning it can confidently be installed in a difficult to access spot.
ProNet 2.0 Compatible
Network-based projector asset management and control is available through ProNET 2.0 control software.
