A flexible wide-angle zoom in a compact form factor, the EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM from Canon is a 16-28.8mm equivalent lens designed for EF-S-mount DSLRs. Helping to reduce the overall size while maintaining high optical quality, a four-group zoom design is employed along with one ultra-low dispersion element, one aspherical element, and one large-diameter element to produce sharp, clear imagery void of chromatic and spherical aberrations. A Super Spectra coating has also been applied to suppress flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color neutrality. Benefitting both photo and video applications, an STM stepping AF motor is used to realize quick and near-silent autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override. Additionally, a four-stop-effective Image Stabilizer system is also featured and minimizes the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting.

Wide-angle zoom is designed for APS-C-format Canon EF-S-mount DSLRs and provides a 16-28.8mm equivalent focal length range.
One ultra-low dispersion glass element noticeably reduces color fringing and chromatic aberrations for high clarity and color fidelity.
One aspherical element limits distortion and spherical aberration in order to realize greater sharpness and accurate rendering.
Super Spectra coating has been applied to individual elements to minimize ghosting and flare for greater contrast and color neutrality when working in strong lighting conditions.
An Optical Image Stabilizer helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to four shutter speed stops to better enable working in low-light conditions and with slower shutter speeds.
An STM stepping AF motor realizes smooth, near-silent autofocus that is complemented by a rear focus system, advanced AF algorithms, and a high-speed CPU for fast AF performance. Additionally, full-time manual focus override is also available.
Rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.

EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM Lens is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 377.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best bargain ever from B&H photo I use this product like any other aspiring photographer. The 10-18 super-wide allows for new ways of seeing the world of photography. At 10 mm the lens seems to take on a life of its own making me keep my eye glued to the view finder. It arrived ahead of schedule much to my delight. I have already composed a few winners for my ever expanding portfolio and plan for many more. No lens hood came with it but it does not really need one. My friends are now scrambling to sell their wide Sigmas and others after seeing how much sharper this lens is. The price for this beautiful lens is the best bargain of the year. Thank you B&H.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from optically similar to EF-S 10-22 @ f/8 Hi, I bought this lens after I read many positive reviews. Some reviews said it's sharper than EF-S 10-22 and some showed different results. I have EF-S 10-22 so I compared them by taking pictures of my backyard. my copy of EF-S 10-22 is slightly better optically. EF-S 10-18 had similar sharpness when it stopped down to F8 except extreme corners. Photos taken from EF-S 10-18 had some haze which may cause sharpness degradation. I guess people may have different results if they shot ISO 12233 charts. However, it's half price of EF-S 10-22 and it has STM and IS for video. I give it 5 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love It! Love It! Love It! As a Real Estate Photographer I couldn't wait until this 10-18mm lens was available - was a bit skeptical about the price being so low & I didn't want to wait until it was suppose to come out on June 30th I almost ordered canon's 10-22mm for $ more. Glad I didn't - early in June B&H stated they had it in stock - didn't believe it thought it was some sort of sales tactic (how could they have it when it wasn't available anywhere else). Well within 2 days it was at my door - love the lens - clear crisp photos - a bit of distortion at 14mm but nothing like the point & shoots at 24mm. Great Service.....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from really wide I'm used to shooting with an 18-35, but this lens surprised me at just how much wider the field of view is. The barrel distortion doesn't bother me much; unless I'm shooting a horizon or buildings with lots of vertical lines I can live with it. It's great for handheld video, unless you get too close to a subject's face: the effect on someone's nose close up is definitely visible. That said, all of these things affect wide angle lenses in general, so there's no reason to be surprised. The plastic mount worries me some, but I can dispense with metal at this price point. The glass is sharp enough, but less contrasty than I would like. Good value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excelent product and customer experience The zoom is extremely good, especially for the price. Image quiality is excelent, as expected according to reviews read all over the net.Contrast and color reendition specially caught my attention. This is going to be a great landscape lens! But this lens is also: smooth when zooming and focusing, light and well balanced even in my SL1, and seems of good build quality (light years better than the 18-55 kit lens). Customer experience, according to my mother who bought this for me in a trip to NY, was awesome. Although she doesnt speak English, the guys in the store managed to make her feel comfortable and sure. Thank you very much. Raul

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little lens for EF-S Using it for both my EOS M with the adapter, instead of the 11-22, and the weight is great. Even with the adapter it doesnt pull the front of the camera down too much. Zoom is nice and the MF ring is well placd, smooth and easy to use. Filter size is nice, but at 10mm you need slim filters. Also using it for the 40D Infrared camera I have, and its great there too. Smaller than the 14mm 2.8 in length and diameter, and much lighter. F4.5 is a bit slow but with the IS most of the work Ill use it for will be static so other than lacking some bokeh its perfect. AF motor is totally silent. Seems like a great lens for stills, movies...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lens! I use this lens with a Canon T2i. Great build, great quality. Quick & quiet AF as well, nice manual-override. Feels good in my hand with the camera. Great for low light handheld, as long as you understand the lighting & have the IS switched on. Issues are some that come in the nature it's built. Such as lens distortion, & vignetting. It's a very wide lens. Even with those it doesn't bother me much, you can fix the lens distortion in post, & the vignetting you have to adjust the aperture depending on the focal length. I expect to use this for a very long time, until possibly I move on to a full frame & some L series lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value for a Wide Angle Lens I was wonderfully surprised when Canon made this 10-18mm lens available at such a reasonable price. I was just as surprised with its quality and output. Having a 16mm equivalent on an APC sensor camera for such a low price is a dream come true. There are a few instances of Chromatic Aberration at 10mm, but is easily corrected in software. Some of Canon's newer cameras will compensate for that effect in the camera itself, if the lens profile is updated to include this lens. Image Stabilization lets you obtain correctly exposed pictures even in low light. This lens stays on my camera most of the time since I mostly photograph wide angle scenes. Can't go wrong at this price.
