    Apple Mac Mini reviews

Mac mini 2.6 GHz Desktop Computer (Late 2014) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Home Desktop! Upgraded from a Intel core 2 duo iMac. Was pleasantly surprised how much difference the i5 makes. I also believe the SSD goes a LONG way in making the OS zippy. Wish there was more internal storage and the ability for easier upgrades (add SSD, ram, etc), but overall the machine is fast, quiet, and runs cool. Thunderbolt 2, USB 3, and HDMI, gig-E, and SD-card built in are all great. Was worried I'd need the 16 GB ram (couple hundred extra), but so far with Yosemite 8GB feels just right. For the price, very happy with the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mac Mini - Quality Computer -Smooth/Fast The Mac Mini 2.6 GHz with the 256 GB Flash Drive (SSD) runs very smoothly and responds very quickly to commands (i.e., opening programs (including large files/programs), turning the computer on/off...). For anyone who may be looking for a larger hard-drive to store files or for increased flexibility, I would recommend you consider purchasing a highly-rated USB 3.0 external hard-drive which allows for quick file transfers. You should probably look for a product that is 1 TB or larger depending on how much space you would like and the cost of the product. If you are transferring your files from an old Mac to the new Mac, please note the following: I used Migration Assistant by connecting my old Macbook to my Mac Mini using an ethernet connection. While the transfer rate was fine, when the Migration was almost complete (after about 1.5 - 2 hours) - at the point where the computer noted there was 1 minute left, the Migration continued on for a long while, until I stopped it. I then used Disk Utility, which I recommend you do prior to migrating the data. Click Verify Disk Permissions and if needed, Repair Disk Permissions. After I had done that, I made a new backup of my old hard-drive onto an external drive and transferred that backup to the new computer (select your external drive when using the Migration Assistant) - in which case the transfer was successful and did not have the same problem as my first attempt. I would recommend purchasing an HDMI cable if your external monitor supports it (I assume most new ones do support HDMI), otherwise the DVI cable with the appropriate adapter (if needed). There was one instance when I came to my computer (perhaps after taking it out of Sleep) where the external screen showed the desktop and everything else in a red-hue. I disconnected the screen and then reconnected it and the problem stopped (and has not occurred since). There were 1 or 2 times where the monitor very briefly seemed to show the screen image move a little. However, since the above were exceptional occurrences (and have not reoccured since) I assume everything is fine (but will monitor to see if it reoccurs). In short, if you are looking for a computer that is very quick and smooth, the Mac Mini 2.6 GHz with the Flash (SSD) drive is recommended.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Outdated marvel Mac mini is a great computer but outdated for 2017. I got this only because I need a machine to run Apple server for Profile Manager to control Apple computers, iPads and iPhones in our organization. Mac mini WAS a great computer in 2014 but now for general purpose is too old and expensive. If this computer would have native 4K 60Hz support, recent CPU generation and competitive price would be an entry level star selling desktop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love My Mac Mini! For it's size, the Mac Mini packs a powerful punch. We just bought our second one, the new, updated version to replace our 2008 model. We use our Mini for all home computing, as well as intensive photography work. We run the main photo editing programs on it with no problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product what you pay The specs are not top notch but that configuration renders enough speed for most use. Do I see lag or stutter every so often when working on Photoshop CC? YES. Did I know this will happen for a computer I paid less then what a professional/business mac or pc would cost? ALSO A YES. Just know what you are getting (and for 99% of use it breezes through things), and you will be very happy. Definitely would not go for any lower configuration though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would optfor the 16gig model. I had my setvations at first buying a new Mini, versus a used 2012 Mini. I work in audio productions, and i got the 2.6 I 256SSD wth 8gigs ( wish is gone 16), and I am quite happy so far. It blows away my 2009 iMac core 2 with 12 gigs of RAM. Is it a 2012 contender? But does it get the job dene for me....absolutely. Its faster than I thought and I am pretty satisfied.
