The Schneider 82mm True-Match Vari-ND Filter is a solid variable neutral density filter providing a reduction of about 1.3 to 11 stops. The 0.4 to 3.3 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. The degree of density is easily controlled by rotating the front filter ring, allowing you to previsualize the additional exposure length required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

This filter perfectly matches two opposing polarizing foils in order to accomplish the variable ND effect, and this precise combination allows a higher level of blue color shifting at maximum density. Because both filter substrates are combined into one filter ring, this filter is low profile and helps to eliminate vignetting on most lenses. The front ring diameter is 101mm in diameter, further helping to reduce vignetting, even on wide angles lenses. Schneider filters are diamond-cut from crystal-clear water-white Schott glass and polished to precise flatness and parallelism standards.

Variable neutral density filter allows you to dial in differing amounts of density scene to scene.
0.4 to 3.3 ND filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.
Providing a reduction of 1.3 to 11 stops, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.
Filter does not affect coloration of the image and can be used with other filters.
Low profile, wide design prevents vignetting with most lenses.

82mm True-Match Vari-ND Filter is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Problems at certain settings I used the Schneider 82mm True-Match Vari-ND filter with a full-frame camera and a 16-35mm lens. I found that the filter worked as expected at most of the filter's settings. However, at certain settings, there was noticeable vignetting. This was tolerable because I could reduce the vignetting in processing, or crop the image. But also at certain settings, the image showed uneven luminance values - kind of like a spot light illuminated certain areas of the image and a gobo blocked other areas. This phenomenon made the image unusable. Schneider's claim that the filter produces no color shift from setting to setting seemed to be true, in my experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only variable to buy Yes, I know it is higher priced then the others but this is the only one I have ever tried where vignetting is not an issue and I have owned three different brands of variable ND's. . I have the 82 mm for the Canon 24-70 f2.8L ll I purchased recently and have owned the 77 mm one for some time. There is actually no vignetting whatsoever with just the Vari-ND filter on by itself all the way down to 16mm on a full frame camera which is the widest angle I own. I can even stack a Singh Ray regular mount (not the thin mount as you cannot stack on top of this) additional ND filter on top of it and will only get a slight amount of vignetting (easily corrected in post) at the darkest setting. I shoot a lot of long exposure seascapes and believe me, this is the one to buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Was looking for a nd vari color, really fantastic. 6k or 5k, no pb at all on Canon L. It's expensive but with stepdown ring you can use easily on all your lenses, so really fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's the best I have other brand ND Variable filters, but this has class of it's own. No color shifting, I have not seen any X factor in any of my images and this filter really helps me get that creative shot otherwise would have been impossible. I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I don't like paying for the same thing twice. Very expensive. I originally went with a cheaper but well known and respected brand but found it did all sorts of weird things as you increased the density. Found out the hard way that sometimes expensive is cheaper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best VariND I have used! For me this has the best colour and ND control of any of the vari NDs I have used. I have this in the 77mm and 82mm now. Can't go back to Tiffen NDs now
