Rokinon 135mm f/2.0 overview

  • 1Description

The 135mm f/2.0 ED UMC Lens for Sony E Mount from Rokinon is a manual focus telephoto prime lens useful for portraiture and most telephoto applications. Its fast f/2.0 maximum aperture is effective in low light and enables shallow depth of field control. With a rounded 9-blade diaphragm, shallow depth of field imaging will be rendered with pleasing out-of-focus highlights. Compatible with both full frame and APS-C format mirrorless E mount cameras, this lens provides a 35mm focal length equivalence of 202.5mm when used on APS-C cameras. Its minimum focus distance is 2.6'.

The optical design includes one extra-low dispersion lens element to control chromatic aberration, contributing to sharp, color-accurate imaging, and each of its lens elements features Ultra Multi-Coating to improve light transmission and reduce ghosting and flare. An internal focus system prevents the front end from rotating which allows more effective use of variable filters.

A durable metal barrel with a wide focus ring and manual aperture control ring offer tactile control over focus and exposure. An included, removable lens hood deters stray light from entering the lens, while protecting it from accidental impact and precipitation.

    Rokinon 135mm f/2.0 reviews

135mm f/2.0 ED UMC Lens for Sony E Mount is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Crisp, clean, simple I am using this lens on a Sony a7rII and although I have not had a chance to do a lot with it yet, I'm impressed with what I have been able to capture. I'm surprised at how much I enjoy the manual focus and in some ways find it easier than toggling around with autofocus. It draws me into the experience of taking a picture. This is a heavy, well built lens, but fits well with the Sony a7rII body. The biggest issue is making sure that the camera is steady for the shot and working with a tripod will help with that. I'm looking forward to taking the time to do a lot more with the lens and it inspires me to work more with manual focus.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good manual focus lens Good lens for portraits and non-moving subjects (not sports) I use this mainly for car photography, the lens is fast enough to get a nice background blur even with the full shot of an entire car in the frame. From what i've seen, the image quality out of this matches or beats similar Canon L lenses I'm using this lens on an A7S II which has in body stabilization, which greatly reduces camera shakes. Lens feels sturdy, feels like the same type of plastic on Canon L lenses Rear lens cap is cheap and falls off easily, I would make a shim to prevent this from happening. Front lens cap is cheap but does the job. Lens hood is very picky about how you put it on, stark contrast to how a 24-105 L lens hood works for example. The connection to the camera body is strong, no wobbles or issues Focus ring has a long throw, feels fairly heavy, and stops abruptly at each end without damping Aperture control clicks nicely, feels like a very expensive lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible IQ for the price! I've owned this lens for a while, and I love it. I have two lenses I consider my favorites: this one, and the Zeiss Batis 25mm. That 135mm lens is sharp, and the sharpness is even across the frame. I find it easy to focus manually using the viewfinder from my A7R II. The lens is well built and I'm not worried it my break or anything. The focus ring is large and well dampened. The aperture ring is easy to use without looking at it by counting the number of clicks. The bokeh looks very good, too. Very smooth, with good isolation. I didn't notice any distortion either, and vignetting isn't too bad. I could only include two photos. I included the cow photo because I took it while driving back from a canyon, focusing using the viewfinder without assistance. Also, it shows a bit the lens' bokeh. I chose the other landscape photo because it's sharp across the frame. I really wanted to upload a 2160p resolution photo, but the uploader kept timing out, so I had to upload a smaller 1080p file.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big and Beautiful I have to agree with what others said, the image quality is just stunning, the bokeh, contrast and color rendition are all just superb and perhaps the best I have seen. Im using it on the Sony a6300, where the limitation is sharpness may be the actual 24MP sensor and not this lens, but its a fantastic combo. All this beauty has a price, namely size and weight. This lens dwarfs the a6300, and weighs more than the camera body and a couple of Sigma primes combined. 200mm isnt an everyday focal length but when you need reach I would take this combo over just about anything. Sony has a wonderful emount zoom with the new 70-300mm but its $1200, and while its not F2 nor quite the optical beast this prime is, its fully automatic and has image stabilization, neither of which this lens has. Every lens and every camera is a compromise of size, weight, and quality, and this on the a6300 is one Im willing to make because the image quality surpasses any of my Sony or Sigma emount lenses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very sharp... I have used this product for some landscape photography as well as some candids of my children. While unit is made from plastic, I see nothing that is telling me that it will fail anytime soon. It feels very solid in my hand and the focus ring is very smooth. It shows no sign of focus creep...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superior sharpness, contrast and color For the first 3 days of receiving this lens, I was Just shooting around the house of my children and doing some nature shots near my home, I was amazed at the sharpness, color and contrast all done wide open at f2. So sharp, I can see my reflection in my children's at 7 feet. I added some extension tubes for some macro shots and I was so amazed at the level of detail. The bokeh is amazing, creamy smooth... but the bokeh balls weren't perfectly round, however still beautiful. I could really see the pollens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible lens for the price I bought this lens as i wanted a longer lens for shooting portraits and cars. It has exceeded every single expectation i have had and then some! If you can deal with having a full manual lens then this thing is for you! On a sony with focus peaking, it is incredibly simple. I've attached a few sample pics. Sharp, Sharp and SHARP!
