Rokinon 135mm f/2.0 Overview

The optical design includes one extra-low dispersion lens element to control chromatic aberration, contributing to sharp, color-accurate imaging, and each of its lens elements features Ultra Multi-Coating to improve light transmission and reduce ghosting and flare. An internal focus system prevents the front end from rotating which allows more effective use of variable filters.

A durable metal barrel with a wide focus ring and manual aperture control ring offer tactile control over focus and exposure. An included, removable lens hood deters stray light from entering the lens, while protecting it from accidental impact and precipitation.

Rokinon 135mm f/2.0 Reviews

Amazing Crystal clear optics

Bought for deep sky Photography mainly. On an APS-C camera it's 216 mm. This prime, as most primes have shown me, is clearly sharper than zooms at similar focal lengths . Primes like this one is a stop faster at f2, meaning I can set my shutter speed to half what I'd need at f2.8. This is super helpful if I use it on my MSM tracker which is very difficult to precisely polar align. I can shoot 20 second subs, with no significant trailing for my eyes. I only need it focused at infinity for my needs. With the manual focus, this proved to be incredibly difficult to get sharp. An inperceptible movement of the focus ring made it go from almost in focus to not. I must have fiddled with this for hundreds of tries before getting it perfect. Once done trying to hold the focus ring in place wit gaffer tape screwed it up! FRUSTRATING is beyond my feeling at that point. Once again focused, I used a few drips of hot glue, as then, I didn't have to touch anything. Now I have crazy sharp pinpoint stars. Otherwise I would have given it an enthusiastic 5 stars.

Highly recommended

Sharpest Lens I Own!

This was the first manual lens that I've purchased - bought it for use with my Astrophotography setup. While its great for Deep Space Objects - I also tried it on a tripod for other non-astro uses. While it does require a lot of effort compared to automatic lenses - it takes amazingly sharp photos! Its the sharpest lens I own honestly. B&H got it to me so quickly - I had it out of the box and on my tripod within 2 days of ordering it!

The Rokinon 135mm f/2.0 ED UMC Lens is a fantastic lens. It's sharp, fast, comes with a hood which not only keeps out stray light, but keeps dew off my lens during nighttime shooting. Although it's manual focus only, I use it for astrophotography so that works perfectly for me. Images are excellent all the way to the edges. A focus ring lock would be a great thing to have, but tape works too! All-around a great addition to my toolbox.

Solid Build, Fit and Finish. Using it on a D780 and Z6 with FTZ, great low light response and I have no complaints about Sharpness and color for my Enthusiast level. Keep in mind it is MANUAL Focus, very smooth but IMO could be a bit less resistant.

I got to use it once, but i love how crisp it is.

I love how crisp it is for Astrophotography, Which is what I bought it for. so far I have only had two clear nights to play with it. Hope to get to spend a lot more time with it in the future.

question

Can I use this lens on a super 35mm digital camcorder like the Sony FS700?
Asked by: Landmark P.
You can if you buy an adaptor. This lens is EF-mount, meanwhile Sony FS700 has Sony-E mount. It will have some cropfactor, though. I'm guessing 1.4 or 1.5x? Meaning you'll probably see it as a 200mm.But it does work, and its a fantastic lens for its price.

Is this lens compatible with the Nikon D3500?
Asked by: Lynn
Yes, the Rokinon 135mm f/2.0 Lens for Nikon F Mount with AE Chip is compatible for use with the Nikon D3500 DSLR camera. Do note that this is a manual lens, so you will have to focus the lens manually. However, as the lens does have an AE chip, it will provide automatic exposure metering in Auto, Program, Aperture-Priority, Shutter-Priority, and Manual modes, and the LED in the camera's viewfinder will illuminate for focus confirmation when the camera detects you have focused on your subject. It will also provide EXIF metadata to the camera.
