Dedicated to the Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 IS II telephoto, this digital camo Lens Cover from LensCoat provides waterproof protection for your investment. It also safeguards against scratches and impact, while offering a thermal barrier to keep your hands warm in cold conditions. The cover is easy to install and remove, sliding on like a sleeve and leaving no residue on the lens. It has clear, flexible PVC windows over the AF and IS controls and the distance scale. A small hole lines up with the camera's mount indicator to make quick, easy work of aligning the lens with the mount.

Another benefit of the LensCoat is that it helps break up the shape of your lens, making it less noticeable to wildlife so you're less likely to scare them off. The cover is made in the USA from 100% closed-cell neoprene. Included with it is an additional piece designed for use when the lens is zoomed out to 400mm. This accessory can be attached and removed quickly via the touch-fastener strip.

Lens Cover for Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 IS II (Digital Camo) is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 46.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Too Expensive Way too expensive for the amount of materials used for a small lens. Also with the 100-400 II the lens hood will not attach in the reverse travel position. Yes, you can zoom out a bit to make it screw on but then the lens won't fit in designated camera bag slot. I had to cut the piece that goes over the zoom ring so the hood would attach in the reverse position. After cutting off some of the material from the zoom ring piece I discovered that was better because you are now touching the rubber of the zoom ring for better grip.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good, but could be better The product works fairly well. The sleeves fit tightly over the corresponding segments of the barrel, I have no fear of them coming off, and the materials seem durable. However, in some aspects the sleeves were not as custom-fitted as I would have liked. For example, the button windows are too small, and don't really afford any control of the buttons. Another issue, though an unavoidable one, is the connecting and removing the lens hood is much more difficult. The two tabs on the sides of the hood are covered, and finding them to remove the hood can be a challenge. Also, because of the added thickness of the sleeves, the hood will not easily reattach unless the barrel is extended. The filter window on the hood is also covered.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mixed Feelings I use the 100-400 mm set to 400 mm most of the time for bird photography. The lens needs to be camouflaged, and so far the camouflage seems effective. Words of caution: the section that covers the lens controls is clumsy, and is best left off altogether. The section that covers the focus ring needs precise and continuous position alignment, so that the AF motor can turn the ring freely. I am giving though to discarding this also for that reason (the ring is black anyhow). The cover is expensive to start with. Leaving out two pieces makes it more so. You may wish to consider making your own from stock camouflage neoprene sheet. Much cheaper.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lenscoat? What Was I thinking, this is a small zoom lens! I just returned mine. I should have thought about my lens more. The 100-400 ver II is relatively short, has several buttons one should access and has numerous separate sections including the zoom lock ring. Considering this, the Lenscoat never made sense. This lenscoat is MANY small neoprene loops. They make accessing functions on the lens difficult. The product also make connecting the lens hood in the reversed storage position difficult .. and on this lens, one also wants access to the 'button' to remove/rotate lens hood. Bad Product for a short zoom lens. On a large prime like 500mm or 600mm the Lenscoat makes a lot more sense.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too expensive / Needs improvement This is an update to my previous review. I purchased this product to be placed on a Canon 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS II Lens. The image shown for the product is very misleading. The strip of materiel on the zoom barrel has to be put on and taken off each time you use the lens. Once installed on the barrel, the lens can no longer be zoomed in or out making the lens a straight 400mm lens. I had to replace this piece with a custom vinyl wrap allowing the lens to be zoomed in or out without any issues (see photo). I also used some of the vinyl wrap to cover up some of lens where the LensCoat did not (see photo). The piece that fits over the Zoom Tension Ring is too loose and slides when you tighten and loosen the ring (see photo). This seemed annoying to me, so I contacted the company and they sent me back a smaller piece which is tighter and seems to grip the Tension Ring better. The piece provided for the Focus Ring had to be trimmed because it was rubbing on the lip of lens foot (see photo). If you move or position the materiel so that it does not rub on the foot, then manually focusing the lens becomes difficult. I had to trim this piece back about a 1/4 inch which works just fine. Because of the little door on the lens hood, the lens hood fits very snugly when put on in reverse. However it does fit and takes a little work/practice to get it attached. Pros for this product are the material is very good and will no doubt protect the lens from scratches, dings and even rain. It seems as though it will last a long time. The product is also manufactured in the USA and the Customer service is excellent. Bottom line is that the LensCoat is expensive for the amount of improvements that need to be made. They seem to have made this LensCoat available without testing it on the Canon lens first. Hopefully the company can make improvements to this LensCoat for future customers.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money for me. Using self-adhesive vinyl instead. Pretty much useless for me. I could not operate the switches with the cover on. The cover for the extended barrel is probably the best you can do, but does not work for me. With the cover on the zoom ring the lens hood can not be put on in the reversed position for storage or transport. I ended up using self-adhesive vinyl with a similar camo pattern. Much cheaper and better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well thought out product Tough to get it perfect when dealing with a zoom. I like the options that are included which allows for foot on or off and for putting camo on the barrel at full zoom. On the flip side this is kind of a negative as well( the zoom barrel) but I am not sure what else could be done. All in all, works great and I can recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Well Purchased this cover more for protection of the lens than for the camo feature. All of the pieces of the Max4 Camo lens cover fit well on the Canon 100-400 MK II except the cover for the extended tube. You can only use this piece if the lens is fully extended to 400 mm all the time. The Velcro to remove that section is a good idea, but this piece gets in the way and you may not have time to remove it for a closer shot.
