question

To an Expert familiar with the EV drive system with the G-Tech SATA to Firewire Adapter: Would this offer any advantages as compared to using regular SATA Internal drives and using my Odyssey Q drive dock?I have both Firewire 800 and E-Sata Ports on the dock, and have storage cases for the drives, so is this faster or easier - or more reliable - to make changing my storage workflow worthwhile? If you don't KNOW for sure, please don't give me your opinion.Thanks.
Asked by: Dicran
The drives are going to be fastest through the Sata connection, then USB 3. Firewire is just for legacy systems. It is a much slower connection, 800Mb/s max vs 3 or 6GB/s max depending on your sata.

question

Also, judging by the product photos, it would appear that the USB 3.0 output type on the drive is Micro-B, so I'm assuming one end of the included cable is Micro-B. My question is, what type is the other end?
Asked by: Jay L.
Standard USB

question

Does it work on both Windows and Mac at the same time?
Asked by: Anonymous
The drive ships formatted HFS+ for use with Mac. I can easily be converted to exFAT for accessibility on both Mac and Windows.https://support.g-technology.com/KnowledgeBase/answer.aspx?ID=14080

question

I'm interested in using the G-Technology 1TB G-DRIVE ev RaW USB 3.0 Hard Drive in conjunction with a Samsung UA65HU8500W TV, and I would like to know if the television is going to be able to read and play audio and video files from the hard drive via USB 3.0, given that the file format is compatible. I've contacted Samsung and they've informed me that the UA65HU8500W can read hard drives with capacities up to 1.5TB, but I'm not sure if there are any other parameters that could interfere with the interaction between the two products that I may not be aware of?
Asked by: Jay L.
I would assume that as long as you format the drive to the specifications that the Samsung TV wants, you should be fine. I did use the word assume.

question

Can I replace the drive inside? Or will it just fall apart? Would love to replace it with my spare SSD drive
Asked by: Diego
No, removing the drive will break the enclosure. It cannot be reassembled.
