When it's time to rest after a long day of exercise, your fenix 3 will monitor your sleep and record periods of restful sleep or movement.

    GPS and GLONASS
Your fenix 3 uses a stainless steel EXO antenna, unobtrusively integrated into the bezel, to receive signals from GPS and GLONASS satellites. It uses this data to create a track log, using a "breadcrumb trail" system of track points and user-entered locations and checkpoints so you can always find your way.
    Altimeter, Barometer, and Compass
The fenix 3 has built-in altimeter, barometer, and compass (ABC) sensors to provide real-time information while out and about. The altimeter provides elevation data to accurately monitor ascent and descent, while the barometer can be used to predict weather changes by showing short-term trends in air pressure. The 3-axis electronic compass keeps your bearing whether or not you're in motion. Calibration is taken care of automatically via GPS, and the watch sets the time based on location.

    Running and Cycling

    VO2 Max Estimator
When used with an optional heart rate monitor, the fenix 3 uses your speed, heart beats per minute, and heart rate variability to calculate the maximum approximate volume of oxygen you can consume per minute. A recovery advisor with a recovery timer and recovery check let you train safely and a race predictor estimates your ideal finish time based on your current VO2 max number.
    Running Dynamics
When used with the optional Garmin HRM-Run monitor, the fenix 3 records your cadence, vertical oscillation and ground contact time so you can safely increase your running economy.
    Cycling Features
When used with the optional Vector cycle power meter, the fenix 3 records your pedaling power, speed, and cadence. It also stores multiple bicycle profiles.
    Other Running and Cycling Features
    Heart rate-based calorie computation
Interval training (set up exercise and rest intervals)
Virtual Partner (train against a digital person)
Virtual Racer (compete against other activities)
    Personal records
Auto Pause (pauses and resumes timer based on speed)
Multi-sport (changes sport mode with a press of a button)
Advanced workouts (create custom, goal-oriented workouts)
Virtual Pacer (compares current pace to target)
Accelerometer (calculates distance for indoor workouts, without need for a foot pod)
Training Effect (measures impact of an activity on your aerobic fitness)

    Additional Sport Modes

    Swimming Mode
Simply input the size of the pool you're swimming in and jump in; your fenix 3 will track your distance, pace, stroke type, stroke count, and more. It can also calculate your open-water swim distance when swimming in lakes and oceans.
    Ski/Snowboard Mode
This mode records and displays your speed, distance, and more while on the slopes. An automatic run counter and lift line auto-pause let you keep track of your entire day.

    Software

    ConnectIQ
Your fenix 3 uses the ConnectIQ platform for specialized software so you can personalize your watch with customized apps, widgets, data fields and unique watch faces.
    BaseCamp
With BaseCamp, you can trace your planned route and view elevation changes, survey the terrain in 2-D or 3-D, geotag your photos, and more.
    Connect 2.0
Maximize your fenix 3's potential with Garmin Connect 2.0, which lets you search and create courses where you can analyze and live track your progress, take advantage of advanced workouts and step-by-step guidance, and connect with friends, family, and pros to compare and compete.

Garmin 010-01338-10 reviews

fenix 3 Multisport Training GPS Watch Performer Bundle (Gray with Black Band) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Update My focus has turned to trail running (training for a 55k trail race) and the Fenix 3 is a failure at gps tracking accuracy on trails. It measures way short! On an 8.5 mile loop, which I've tracked, mtb'd and the county has measured to be 8.5 mi, the Fenix 3 records 6.7 miles! I've taken it on over a dozen other trail systems; the best it has done is been under by 15%. Unacceptable. I have the latest update, so starting to believe it's a HW issue as they can't get it right. Surprising, because on the road, with a clear view of the sky, it's very accurate. Give it 2 stars because it does most everything else well and looks great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Watch Easy to install, easy to use and fun to operate. No problems so far, except for a glitch that froze the watch vibrating (use the light button to reset and it was fixed). I've updated the software and the issue seems to be solved. I would definetly recommend this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Full Feature multi-sport training tool I purchased this to use for training for IM's as well as a daily watch and the every-other-week hike through the mountains. With the plethora of smart-watches coming out, I thought about going that route (pun intended), but decided a dedicated piece was what I was after right now. The gps is spot-on and acquiring satellites is very fast. I've used the lap-swim feature a couple time and it confirmed how poor of a swimmer I truly am. But, now I have something to base off of and improve my stroke efficiency. I have not had a chance to use it on the bike yet, so I cannot comment there. The one thing I really like is that Nike+ plus and Garmin Connect sync up. Meaning my runs with this watch get logged on my Nike+ app. That's a big plus as most of my mileage is logged on Nike+ and I no longer have to haul my phone with me on my runs. The only negative I've found so far, and why I give it 4 stars, is syncing via bluetooth is not consistent wirelessly. When I'm directly connected to the PC, it works every time. But, only about 50% wirelessly. Perhaps a firmware update will fix that. So far, I'm pleased with the purchase and love the look of the watch!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Watch, Superb Quality, Intuitive, and looks good. Bought this for an updated GPS/fitness tracking watch with a built-in rechargeable Li-On battery. It works great. I have the speed/cadence sensor for my mountain bike in addition to the included heart rate monitor. I also use this with the Garmin Connect app and the Garmin scale. I really like how this watch works. The Garmin connect stats are great and quite detailed with a plethora of information. The USB charging cable and A/C adapter are included. I have been charging mine mostly from my Mac. Configuration of Bluetooth and wireless are a snap. I also configured all of the other sensors (bike speed/cadence, HRM, scale, without any issues. I love getting smartphone notifications on my watch without taking my phone out. The GPS is spot-on, I enabled both GLONASS and GPS, acquisition is really fast and accurate. Syncing via USB cable and Mac is straightforward. I have noticed that one 1 occasion I synced the update v6 of the watch OS and installed it, but later it wanted to install it again so I did. Not sure if it did this because I may have clicked Sync twice, or if it detected a new version via WiFi about the same time? The only unexplained behavior I've had happen to me once was the watch rebooted while I was wearing it, not sure why? Everything appears to be working as normal though. The IQ Connect and watch faces are really cool, but Garmin needs to nurture this young community into more of what the Apple App Store is in regards to quality control, selection, and diversity.
