Celestron SkyMaster Pro 20x80 Overview

By B&H Photo's

Designed as an ideal optic for wide-view astronomical or long-range terrestrial observation, the Celestron 20x80 SkyMaster Pro Binoculars feature a proprietary XLT multicoating system to reduce reflection and increase light transmission through the entire optical system. The porro prism configuration provides a rich depth of view and high contrast to draw users into an immersive observational experience. The combination of optical coatings, prism, and oversized 80mm objectives produces high-contrast views that are bright and crisp with accurate color fidelity.

To help reduce weight, the binoculars' housing is made from a combination of polycarbonate polymer and aluminum. The aluminum provides strength in key areas, while the polycarbonate is temperature resistant to limit expansion and contraction in extreme temperatures, which can cause the optical components to move out of collimation and prevent the ability to achieve sharp focus. Large objectives and long optical tubes make the SkyMaster Pro binoculars fairly heavy with a center of gravity biased forward, so hand-holding may cause fatigue and noticeable hand shake. A center stabilizer bar has a built-in 1/4"-20 tripod adapter to mount the instrument, with a detachable rail for a red-dot finderscope. To handle a wide range of environments, the optical tubes are nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be fog and waterproof.

Can you see all the rings of Saturn

You can see the planets through the SkyMaster Pro 20x80 binoculars, but it does not have enough magnification to show any surface details or Saturn's rings. A telescope will be the better choice.

Sorry but I have another question for you guys.... What is the best binoculars to view planets? And what is the best binoculars to look out over the ocean from a balcony? Sorry this is really 2 question.... Thanks everyone!
Asked by: Jeff
A tripod mounted SkyMaster Pro 20x80 binocular is ideal for balcony viewing but should be removed when done viewing due to the salty environment which could damage the optics and binocular body. Binoculars are not powerful enough to show planetary detail. A telescope is highly recommended instead. The SkyMaster Pro 20x80 binocular can, however, reveal Jupiter's four brightest moons as four pinpoints of light slowly orbiting the planet.
