Netgear CM400-100NAS overview

  • 1Description

The CM400 DOCSIS 3.0 High Speed Cable Modem from Netgear helps provide users with a high-speed cable Internet connection with speeds of up to 340 Mbps. Equipped with 8MB flash and 64MB of RAM, it is CableLabs certified. With DOCSIS 3.0, it is also up to 8x faster than DOCSIS 2.0, while still being backwards compatible with the 2.0 standard. Input signals on the modem are received using the integrated WAN cable/coaxial port, while they are output to your computer, network switch, or other compatible device of choice using the built-in Gigabit Ethernet port. The 8x4 Channel bonding also help to provide faster cable Internet speeds during peak hours of usage.

In addition to email and web browsing, this cable modem has been designed for uploading and downloading data, streaming HD videos, high-speed online gaming, and more. It is compatible with U.S. cable Internet providers (ISPs) such as Cablevision, Time Warner Cable, XFINITY, and more. However, it is not yet compatible with cable bundled voice services and is not yet certified for Cox. This Netgear cable modem is also well suited for those who wish to save money over time by owning their cable equipment, as compared to paying monthly rental charges to their provider. To help ensure that setup with your compatible provider is user-friendly, this cable modem comes equipped with CD-less installation. XFINITY users are also afforded fast self-activation and are able to get connected without a service call.

The Netgear DOCSIS 3.0 High Speed Cable Modem operates on 110-120V and 47-60 Hz. For this unit to be functional, a cable broadband Internet service is required. Included with this cable modem is a stand, an Ethernet cable, a power adapter, and a limited 1-year hardware warranty. If this cable modem is purchased from an authorized Netgear reseller, limited 90-day 24/7 basic technical support is also included. It is compatible with systems running Windows and Mac OS, as well as other operating systems with a TCP/IP network.

    Netgear CM400-100NAS reviews

CM400 DOCSIS 3.0 High Speed Cable Modem is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Well Used this modem to replace the one that Comcast was charging me for every month. The low price means it will pay itself back in 5 months. It's smaller than a paperback book, much smaller than the old modem it replaces, so less space on the desktop. I measured the top download and upload speeds with this modem compared to the former one, and they are the same--no doubt limited by my data plan. However, for some reason pages consistently load much faster with the new modem, which is great. It was easy to set up. Only glitch was it took about 1/2 hour on the phone with Comcast to get it registered and working, but I don't think that was the modem's fault.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great to replace expensive Time Warner leased modem I am using this at my mom's place to replace her leased Time Warner modem. Installation is simple, a phone call to Time Warner to activate, and good to go. This is my second Netgear cable modem (I own the CM500), and I have always been pleased with Netgear's hardware. You'll want to buy a router to go with this for security and wireless connections.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked like a charm! I bought it to replace my rented time warner modem (which was garbage). Easy and straightforward setup. Great product, I would recommend this to anyone looking to own their modem rather than throw money away and pay your ISP.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well with Suddenlink cable Internet service Easy to use, just plugged it in and gave cable company (Suddenlink) tech support the serial number & MAC address. Rebooted router and Internet was up & fast.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from OK This model was recommended by my ISP. It works but the tech support is horrible so one star off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value I have basic internet service and the modem works just fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great and Inexpensive Great little modem. BE SURE TO BUY A ROUTER FOR WIRELESS ACCESS. Can't beat the price and 2-day shipping from B&H. Set-up is very easy, and you can download an app for you phone to change the network name/password, as well as track devices connected. I bought a Netgear router as well, and they work great together. Both are very small and discrete.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Modem, good value I bought this to go with a new TP Link dual band router & to replace an integrated Motorola surfboard router/modem that was on the fritz. This connected in minutes, called Charter & they authorized it and was up and running 10 mins. Has been solidly reliable over the first 2 weeks of use.
