B+W 65-041210 Overview

Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

The B+W #950 lens hood is rigid and made of black anodized aluminum. It is designed to match the focal length of standard lenses (50mm).

Great finish but doesn't work for Ricoh GRIII

I bought this to screw onto the GA-1 Ricoh Adapter. Because of the length of the hood, it causes vignetting when shooting at 28mm. Once you crop to 35mm, the vignette goes away. This would be a good option for someone looking for a sleek hood for the GRIIIx. Unfortunately it did not work for me. PS - I had to buy a 52mm lens cap separately. It would be great if B+W provided a cover for this, especially at this price point.

Great piece of equipment

I use this hood for my Pentax 40mm f/2.8 pancake lens. The factory hood and lens cap are just to fiddly for everyday use. Deep enough that you don't need a lens cap. Just stuff a lens cleaning cloth in it if you want more protection.

I bought this lens hood for a manual Pentax 50mm lens which I now use occasionally on my K-5. The hood provides protection when the camera is not in use and it gives it a clean and solid look. Easy to keep dust free unlike some of my plastic and texture-lined lens hoods for other lenses.

I have one for my M85/M50 and also for my DA35. Very useful, and the right 58mm pinch cap means you can keep the hood on the lens all the time.

I would buy this product if needed again

Top Quality

This wonderful lens hood does its job. I've had no issues with flare while using this hood. I use it with a 50mm Minolta lens. I also use it with a 28mm Minolta lens on an APS-C format camera (42mm equivalent) with no vignetting. I would also like to note that a 58mm Kaiser push-on lens cap fits snugly on the end of this hood for added lens protection.

Looks great on my Leica CL

I got this for my 18 mm, even though Leica claims it doesn't need one, for protection, and don't mind the size it adds. I got a 39 to 49 step-up ring and the hood for a normal, not WA, as it's huge. A 39 mm hood looked strange surrounded by the larger diameter lens, and the 49 looks just right, doesn't vignette, and the made-in-Germany B W matte black looks super, fit for a Leica.

Great For Sony RX1

I use this on my Sony RX1 and it fits well. The only drawback is that you can't use the lens cap with this hood in place. Also, it is a screw in hood not a twist on hood. It works well for me and is much less expensive than the Sony hood.
