    Epson V19 reviews

Perfection V19 Color Scanner is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 77.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good home scanner I've used my new scanner only a few times but am well satisfied. Installing the software on my desktop iMac took a couple tries. I recommend having the "professional" menu setting as your default if you do anything besides letter-size grayscale, and using the "preview" function to make sure you're getting the area you want. I had put off getting a scanner, but I do a lot of work at home for a nonprofit museum, and the V19 fits easily in my limited space. It's light and easily portable, getting power via USB, and so can be used anywhere a laptop is available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic! This newly released model is fantastic in so many ways. It seems like it is the most compact it could be with today's technology. Only one USB cord connects at the back of the device. Scanning is definitely not noisy. The screen interface is extremely easy to use for photo scanning. When using the Color Restoration setting, the scanned quality of old paper-like color photographs makes them look almost like modern photos. I'm not a professional at this, but I know when I look at my old photos compared to the scanned images, I'm simply amazed. Installation was very easy. I used the provided CD, then I plugged the USD cord into my laptop and that was it! To scan you do not need to touch any button on the device. Just make sure your settings are the way you want them on the screen interface and click the Scan button on the screen. There are settings for scan resolution, dust removal, color restoration, auto photo orientation, image type (.jpg, .bmp, .tif, .pdf), file location, what action to take once scan is complete, and more. I'm pleased.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent basic scanner I already had a much larger, bulkier Epson but wanted something slimmer that produced good results for photos. This scanner fit the need very well. A big plus is that it is powered by the USB data port as well, no need for a big bulky adapter. The software that comes with it is very flexible, with modes from full auto to expert like control. One thing I learned was don't update the software. Just use what comes with the CD. I updated mine and the scanner stopped working. I had to uninstall all the Epson software, and reinstall from the CD.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use Right out of the box this scanner proved to be a good choice. The controls are easy to understand and there are a great number of ways the scans can be done. The quickness of the scan is amazing. One slight downside to it; when in operation the scanner is a bit noisy. I'm not sure if higher end models would be any different but for the price, it's a "fault" I can live with.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice thin bus-powered scanner I have an Epson V500 scanner, that I use mostly to scan artwork like CD booklet covers, not actual photos. Unfortunately, it is bulky, and requires a power adapter brick, so I hardly ever use it since I moved. The V19 is much thinner and lighter, you can carry it with you in a briefcase, and bus-powered, so much less of a hassle than a wall-wart. The kickstand is a nice touch, but not that practical as there isn't a big enough lip to prevent all but the thinnest artwork from slipping off the platen. I have prior experience with Canon's LIDE series, some of which were even thinner, and feel sturdier, but Canon's Mac OS drivers are dire, so I avoid them nowadays. The scanner doesn't have a switch to lock the scanning element, which is a concern if you are going to use it on the go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epson Perfection V19 Scanner is I have had no issues with this scanner. It is very reliable, not as fast as our high-speed scanner which is part of our high speed copier, but for a desktop model it is sufficient. The software operation is simple, easy to understand, and the versatility of saving files to many different file types is very useful. It is also nice that it operates using the power of the pc, it saves the hassle of more wires in the workspace. It is also slim and doesn't take up much more room than the size of the paper itself.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but not great. It works and is cheap. It was easy to set up and plug in. The software is just enough to work and do what needs to be done. Being USB it is on all the time. There should be a switch so it can be turned on and off. It is annoying to have to pull the plug in and out to stop and start. However, when the computer sleeps, the scanner sleeps. The size is enough for standard paper not legal size. It works with my iMac and that is the main thing. The scanner is good for students and home use but not office use as the bed size is small and the software is just enough to get by.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epson Perfection V19 Scanner I am a retired professional photographer educated at Brooks Institute of Photography, and was a Digital Imaging Specialist at Vanderbilt Unv. Did more than 40,000 images in 7 years and most of them were scanned on a Epson Scanner. The scanners never died. Thanks Epson
