Yes you put the gels between the flash head and the mag-o-sphere.

Yes, but it requires some help and effort to get the MagGrip onto it. Once it’s on, you’ll likely want to leave it on there. Then it works great with most of the accessories. The only obvious item it won’t work with is the MagRing. Happy shooting!

How does the standard gel set differ from the advanced gel set?
There isn't an Advanced Gel Set. There is a Creative and an Artistic set which have fancy colours. The standard gel set is more for adjusting white balance
