MAGMOD MMGRIP02 overview

  • 1Description

Made from an elastic silicone rubber, the MagGrip from MagMod stretches over the head of most on-camera flash units and provides two neodymium rare-earth magnets for quickly mounting a variety of accessories from the MagMod flash modifier system. The rubber offers a secure, tight grip on the flash head and is durable. Also, the flash head should be about 2.5" wide for the modifiers to be able to properly attach to the flash head.

    MAGMOD MMGRIP02 reviews

MagGrip is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 65.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as convenient as it's made out to be, but works well. The system works well and snoots and grids I own attach quickly and tightly, but if you're buying this for the convenience of being able to pull your flash out and connect those accessories quickly and easily, note that most flashes will not fit into their soft cases with the MagGrip attached. That means you have to remove it each time, and stretch it back on each time. That actually makes it a bit less convenient than just attaching a snoot or grid or whatever. Other than that, it works well, but I suspect that speed and efficiency are what most potential buyers, like me, are looking for, sadly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gateway product :) I've just started using speedlights as part of my kit a year ago and wanted to be able to be able to efficiently modify my light. I saw a review of The MagMod system on fstoppers and figured it was cheap enough that if I didn't like it, I was only out less than 100 bucks. A few days later it arrived in the mail and I went to work. I fell in love with the system. Everything from the ease of use to the way it looks ( because honestly, some of these speedlight modifiers look straight up DIY) is designed for high end results on a low end budget.I loved this system so much that I've purchased several of the MagGrips for my other speedlights.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BRILLIANT Professional photographer Jeff Cable recommended the MagSphere in one of his recent blogs so I decided to try it. Wow, I'm impressed. This product I'm reviewing, the MagGrip, must be purchased and used with the MagSphere and the other Mag products. Once you attach the MagGrip onto your flash unit, it stays there, i.e. you do not remove it. The MagSphere attaches to the flash unit with the magnets of the MagGrip. I use with my Nikon SB800 flash unit on my Nikon D750 and absolutely, without a doubt, the result of using the MagSphere was a softer and more-natural skin result. I'm really impressed. Downside is that these two units do add weight to the flash unit but the results are definitely worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Base of a Great Modifier System By it's self the MagGrip isn't going to be of any help. But once you pair it up with the MagGrid, MagBounce, or any of the Mag accessaries, it makes for an amazing and quick light modifier system. I can go from a big soft light with the MagBounce and in seconds take it off and Slap on a MagGrid for a more focused light with a moody look. Normally I would have to mess with velcro and spend way too much time switching modifiers that I wouldn't even bother doing it. The the MagMod system makes its so fast to modify your speed light that you want to experiment with you lighting on every shoot, it's just that fast and easy to use.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Does what it says but expensive Works well as the essential piece to make the rest of the Magmod system work, but I can't believe it's price for what it essentially a single rubber moulding with 4 magnets inserted

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good, but... Very convenient and easy to use, but be advised, zoom function will not work in larger flashes with MagGrip on ( SB-910, SB-900 ) Works very well on SB-700.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It snapped while stretching it I think it's a great system but oh so difficult to put on the flash and last night it snapped and broke when trying to stretch it to put it on. I am purchasing another mag grip because I have all the accessories already but I was quite disappointed it broke.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Snug Fit Much, much better system than the velcro and/or rubber bands I have used in the past for attaching things to a flash head. It's a bit heavy, but made to last. It's a tight fit on my Nikon SB600, but it has to be so that it can bit virtually any flash. Once it's attached it works very well.
