Customize your tone and capture quality sound indoors or outside for your next indie film, TV shoot, or documentary project with the Rode NTG4+ battery- or phantom-powered shotgun microphone. Specialized features such as low-noise circuitry, digitally switchable pad and frequency settings, and minimal handling noise reduce the need to repair and restore audio in post production.
The elevated sensitivity of the NTG4+ allows it to produce strong output levels without having to apply extreme gain at your mic preamp. Sonically, the NTG4+ delivers warm sound due in part to its gentle dip in high frequencies and its rumble-reducing selectable low-cut filter. A switchable treble boost is on hand for situations where additional clarity is needed.Ask Our Experts800.606.6969

RODE NTG4+ Overview
Quality Sound Capture
The combination of the 10.9" long body and supercardioid polar pattern yields focused front-facing directionality and enhanced attenuation of sound entering from the sides. Its low self-noise of 16 dBA and sensitive condenser element communicate detailed audio unburdened by the hiss that plagues many low-cost microphones. Plus, its balanced output allows longer cable runs than most camera-mount shotgun microphones.
Internal Battery or Phantom Powered
Operate the NTG4+ on 48V phantom power or via its internal rechargeable lithium battery, which provides up to 150 hours of run time. The micro-USB port and supplied USB cable enable easy recharging in just two hours—charge the NTG4+ via a computer, power brick, or vehicle. Thanks to its 3-pin XLR output, the NTG4+ is compatible with a variety of handheld audio recorders, field recorders, and mixer adapters as well as built-in preamps on many camcorders and cinema cameras.
Customizable Tone via Digital Switching
Digital switching not only allows for intuitive access to the mic's settings, but it also retains their states when the mic is switched off. Activate the 75 Hz low-cut filter to reduce low-frequency noise from common sources such as air conditioners and traffic. Use the +6 dB treble boost for enhanced clarity and intelligibility (best for environments with minimal high-frequency ambient noise). When loud sound sources threaten to distort your recording, switch on the -10 dB pad to attenuate the input level.
Ideal for Boompole Mounting
The lightweight, metal-bodied NTG4+ includes a mic clip for easy placement on a mic stand or boompole. Alternatively, mount the NTG4+ in the Rode SM4-R shockmount or Rode PG2-R pistol grip (both available separately) to impede the transfer of vibrations in boompole or handheld applications.
Windscreen Minimizes Wind Noise
The NTG4+ has a foam windscreen to reduce unwanted wind noise from breezes, fans, heaters, and air conditioners. For maximum reduction of handling noise and wind noise in indoor or outdoor environments, consider the Rode Blimp furry windshield and shockmount suspension system (available separately).

I made a wireless boom pole with this mic. Products to make this happen was the ride ntg4 , boom pole with internal xlr cable, and the tascam dr-10x. Worked like a charm. Love the directional audio that cuts through a ton of noise.

Great microphone...Rode quality product. Have used it in three productions since it arrived. Good sound. The reason I only gave it four stars instead of five was the charging cable for the internal battery was defective on arrival and I had to purchase another one to initially charge it fully for the first use.

I am looking to use this with a Saramonic ...
I am looking to use this with a Saramonic SmartRig with a TRRS to TRS adapter to avoid buying the Sony XLR-K2M. Will it work?
The RODE NTG4+ Shotgun Microphone is compatible for use with the Saramonic SmartRig+ 2-Channel XLR Microphone Audio Mixer with the 3.5mm TRRS connector. It may also be compatible for connection to the 3.5mm TRS mic input on your DSLR or mirrorless camera. If you are only going to use the NTG4+ mic with your camera, you can connect the mic directly to the camera's 3.5mm mic input. Power the mic with its internal battery and use a cable with XLR female and 3.5mm TRS male connectors like the Kopul XRSM 3-Pin XLR Female to 3.5mm RA Stereo Mini-Plug Cable - 1.5' (B&H # KOXRSM015B), which is a good length for mounting on the camera, or use a longer length if you want to use the mic off-camera, on a boompole or stand.

question
Will this microphone work via AA battery and +48 if the internal battery has already died?
There is no way to insert a AA battery. Power requirements in the data sheet for the NTG4+ indicate it can be powered using either 48V Phantom Power (4.8mA current draw) or the internal rechargeable lithium battery.

would this mic work with SKP 100 G4 Plug-on ...
would this mic work with SKP 100 G4 Plug-on transmitter for dynamic microphones.
Yes, you can use the Sennheiser SKP 100 G4 transmitter with a Rode NTG4+ shotgun mic as long as you are using battery power for the mic. The SKP 100 does not supply phantom power.

question
Hi, 3 questions:-Can the built-in battery be replaced?-How long is its estimated life?-What's the best way to store (ESPECIALLY considering the internal battery) when not using it for long periods of time?Thank you very much!
Estimated life with regular use and recharging is estimated to be in excess of 10 years. The battery would be replaced by RODE (it is not DIY). Storage is not a problem at all. Just turn off the power . This mic, including the internal battery, is warranted for 10 years (following registration)

question
Considering this microphone has an internal battery, it doesn't seem like it would need +48v phantom power. Therefore, would it work with the Sony XLR-K2M XLR Adapter Kit?
The NTG4 is able to be powered via internal battery or externally via phantom power from the source. This mic can be used with the Sony XLR-K2M in either manner.

question
Is this a better mic for capturing dialogue than the MKE600 ?
The NTG4+ and MKE 600 are comparable in terms of performance and audio quality. You should get similar results using either mic, so it's really a matter of personal preference.
