The B+W 52mm #900 Rubber Lens Hood is a screw-in type folding rubber lens hood that is designed for use with normal-length and short zoom lenses. It helps to minimize stray light from reaching the lens in order to prevent flare and ghosting. The matte black grooved surface diminishes inner reflections and the rubberized construction adds an extra layer of protection to the lens against bumps or jolts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple, Inexpensive and Effective I bought rubber lens hoods for two of my lenses. This one fits my 50 mm f1.4 Nikon lens (my camera is a D900). I like to shoot photos at the Georgia Aquarium, and the rubber lens hood allows me to place the apparatus in direct contact with an exhibit's acrylic panels without the possibility of scratching the acrylic or admitting stray reflections into the photograph. I wish the hood were just a little stiffer because it wants to collapse when I put it against the acrylic, which defeats the purpose. But if I take just a little care with what I'm doing, it works just fine -- and it sure beats the alternatives.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must have for your EF 50f/1.8 This is an absolute must have for your EF50 f/1.8. Not only does it prevent glare, it adds much needed weight to this flimsy little lens. Note: When screwing the hood on or off, make sure the lens is switched to manual focus to prevent stripping the gears in the little micromotor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great with Olympus 17mm f/1.8 lens Even though this is described as being for normal lenses, and the Olympus 17mm f/1.8 is a wideish angle, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that when used with a 46mm to 52mm step-up ring, a filter, and then this lens hood on top of the filter, there was absolutely no vignetting. So while this rubber hood doesn't look as elegant as the official lens hood, it's a heckuva lot less expensive, allows you to use 52mm filters (which are more common than 46mm filters), and the official lens hood is impossible to use with a polarizing filter, while with this rubber hood, you just turn the hood and the polarizing filter turns along with it, couldn't be easier. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice handy hood I bought this for my Nikkor 35mm f/1.8. I didn't like the plastic one that came with it. It would loosen and fall off. This rubber hood is ideal. It collapses on itself for easy storage. My lens caps works on it perfectly. Bonus that I can put it up against the glass at the zoom, use the flash, and I don't get any reflections.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rubber is better These rubber hoods are much more helpful to me than the plastic ones. This one in particular is fairly sturdy, so it protects my lens from people bumping it and from light if I don't want it in the shot, but because it is rubber I can mold it the way I want. I also sometimes take photos through windows, and the glare can be an issue, but with the rubber hood I can place the hood right up against the glass and there will be no glare in my pictures because there is no light bouncing off of the glass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good value I regularly use this instead of the metal hood that sells with many lenses. Ideal to reduce flare when you shoot against the sun, and also the rubber is lovely to use when you shoot through glass and wish to eliminate reflections. It collapses easier than the metal hoods for storage and the hood is wide enough that I only find it causing vignette at ultra wide focal lengths (and then I simply collapse it to get out of the way).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ...better than metal... ...all my lenses have soft, collapsible hoods for bump protection, and B&W's have internal/external threads so the hood can either mount on a filter or the filter can mount on the hood...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like them better than the OEM hood! I've put these on all of my MFT lens (1 exception - more later) whether Olympus or Panasonic. They accomplish their intent - prevent flare and scattered light from entering the lens. They work perfectly on the following: Panasonic 20mm Panasonic 45-200mm Olympus 45mm They do not work on the Olympus 12-50mm because the lens is to wide and the hood comes into view at the widest aperture. Great product!
